  1. Jays turn to Towers for rubber match Toronto (76-78) at New York (90-64), 1:05 p.m. ET After splitting two games with New York, the Blue Jays will play the Yankees on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game set. Josh Towers, who has won two of his last three starts, will take the mound for Toronto. In his most recent outing, Towers allowed the Mariners four runs -- one earned - and eight hits in six innings. He picked up the win in Toronto's 6-4 victory. The Yankees will counter with right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, who starts for the fourth time since returning from the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Wang's record is 1-1 in three September starts. In his previous outing, he allowed the Orioles seven hits and two runs in eight innings. The Yankees won, 3-2, though Wang didn't factor in the decision. 7. thats right, remember Paps gave up a couple of homeruns in his first mlb game, a close game that had ended with 4-3 score (thanks to walkoff rbi in the 8th by manny, helped by edgah's double)
  8. may the Sox bats figure out rookie John Maine tomorrow
  9. best offense: gotta give bigget props to edgah coming up with a clutch game winning hit with bases loaded and 1 out---trot is starting to come back, tony g 's only hit of the game was big also which was in the 8th inning dishonorable mention: tek tek tek, break out of your slump best defense: mueller's barehand web gem play, 3 double plays turned by teh infield, manny's grab to not let gibbons hit in the 9th get by him best pitching: papelbon proving to be man you use in the 8th notching his 2nd career win--Mike Myers was called to get out a lefty in the 7th with 2 outs and thats just what he did--not what i want to see from Timlin but closed out the game for a win nonetheless, his 11th save of the season thus far--clement didnt have his best stuff, 6 walks ugh, but did throw 6 shutout innings dishonorable mention: hopefully hansen is not shaken up by his first bad career performance
