  1. NYY keys to victory 1) Score runs 2) Keep tight defense 3) Stop LAA's running threat if angels work the pitchers the way sox did to jaret wright, baltimore did to mussina, etc. they ultimately have the advantage
  2. side note: infielders/outfielders for playoffs rosters, note that youkilis is fully back with the team and able to make the roster easily 1st base: John Olerud Kevin Millar 2nd base: Tony Graffanino Alex Cora 3rd base: Bill Mueller Kevin Youkilis Shortstop: Edgar Renterria catcher: Jason Varitek Doug Mirabelli outfield: Manny Ramirez Johnny Damon Trot Nixon Alejandro Machado as backup- would give us good pinch runner when times call for one
  3. are you here to merely gloat
  4. yeah we got the brunt of 1918, they are just one season off from what was the sox's last world series title
  5. yes he is
  6. youre talking about the present we were talking about the white sox in july had a 15 game advantage, it then whittled down to at one point just a 1.5 game lead
  7. Buehrle Im not so concerned about, cuz sox have owned him this season witn a 6.23 ERA
  8. hey everyone im back from the best game i have been to in my life!! i will post pics i took when able to put them into my computer everything just seemed to go right especially schilling who just delivered out pitches after giving up hits. yankees had 11 hits and scored once, it looks like they stopped trying after sox quickly took the 6-0 lead. I believe that by now its clear a weakness in the yankees is that what we've seen for last month or so now, if you get the starting pitcher out early its a 100% definite you will put up a 10 spot on them. best pitching: Above all Schilling returned to his form though giving up a # of hits was lights out, was also his 2nd consecutive start against the yankees. Bronson, Papelbon, Delcarmen, Myers and Timlin all contributed just so greatly best offense: was manny our MVP or what this last series of the season--HR today and 3 RBIs has Manny ending 2005 with 45 HRs, 144 RBIs--Ortiz ended the season with the lead in RBIs at 148--Bill Mueller connected for a solo HR, 10th of the season--Doug made it more of a blowout with his pinch hit 3 run HR left center field, his 6th of the season--Everybody was drawing walks, though with this bullpen im not surprised best defense: Manny's pick off of Jeter to start the game edgar got by on him trying to barehand a ball that slipped by him, was not ruled an error, rest of the game did play solid D other than that, it was such a rush even to not pay attention solely on the game, whole crowd staring at the scoreboard knowing its the 9th and just wanting to see that slab pulled down. the end of game celebration is just too much for words for me...
  9. if Brooks proves me wrong, ok then... but still the last time he played a game was last season. total of 9 snaps, plus you got Ed Reed opposing him, sure to make any rookie quarterback quiver
  10. then why did the sign mirabelli a contract last december to a 2 year contract with option for 3rd year when they had Shoppach who was tearing it up in the minor leagues??
  11. since Millar played yesterday, I can only see that Olerud would then get the start today. he does have the better batting stats against Wright also. just in case, they should have a guy like DiNardo on standby. But still he had his best start this season against NY, a start like that could come this afternoon as well
  12. try posting this on a useless board site like yes network, ass
  13. oh dude please, he was crying because there is now hope for him to not lose his job. if yankees were swept this wknd and knocked out of the playoffs, george wouldve given him a pink slip right away
  14. ? i dont think you understand the scenarios of tomorrow. judging by youre picture i can see why... if sox win, in the playoffs if sox lose and Guardians lose, in the playoffs if sox lose and Guardians win, Guardians have to come here at Fenway on Monday
  15. Game 1: Jose Contrera- 2005 is 1-0 against Red Sox, 4.76 ERA (career is 2-4, 11.67 ERA) Game 2: Freddy Garcia- not faced Red Sox in 2005 (career is 6-2, 4.50 ERA) Game 3: Mark Buehrle- 2005 is 0-1 against Red Sox, 6.23 ERA (career is 4-2, 3.99 ERA) Game 4: Jon Garland- 2005 is 1-1 against Red Sox, 5.25 ERA (career is 3-3, 5.08 ERA) Game 5: Brandon McCarthy- 2005 is 1-0 against Red Sox, 0.00 ERA
  16. as long as I dont see the Phillies (ugh Jon Lieber) beat the Astros for the playoffs, hey i'll still be a happy guy
  17. I just heard on the radio of probable starters for the White Sox series Note: Orlando Hernandez will be the odd man out, not starting any games just long relief like would be the case for Bronson Game 1: Jose Contrera Game 2: Freddy Garcia Game 3: Mark Buehrle Game 4: Jon Garland Game 5: Brandon McCarthy
  18. well a win tomorrow for la and loss for the yankees they would be tied at 95-67. If such thing happens, which I hope, home field probably go to the Angels since they hold a 6-4 series win this season.
  19. i would but i know i wont get a response. Other than the game interruptions, did anyone else feel disgusted when they were showing red sox fans and in background had played the song "everybody hurts"? I give Joe Buck some credit because even he was asking why is this song being played, but Tim McCarver was just laughing his wriggly ass off and played the song again when it showed Stephen King. Tim McCarver saying yeah haha I heard he has a new book called "Everybody hurts". Joe Buck replied, Would you turn that song off
  20. i know the Guardians/white sox was really a big game. but during the sox and yankees' at bats, well couldnt the annoying farts buck and McCarver just say whats going on in between their endless talk about nothing, much better than cutting to the Guardians game and the game we were trying to watch was in a small 6" screen that was blurry and no indication of even what the pitch count was. oh how I longed for Don and Jerry
  21. exactly the Angels, who Yankees face Tuesday, have been a thorn for the yankees holding a 6-4 record against them in 2005. Sox with wild card win would face the white sox on tuesday, red sox hold a 4-3 series win in 2005, and have knocked around their top pitchers Buehrle and Garland.
  22. like yankees need to keep flaherty to catch RJ. Who will catch for Wakefield? need i say the past playoffs games varitek caught for wake, and those 5 games he caught for Wake this season. mirabelli needs to stay on for wake to be most effective
  23. u r comparing mueller and varitek to... millar??
  24. oh believe me tek was signed to a 4 year contract and mirabelli signed a 2 year contract with option for 3rd season--Shoppach just had a great season in AAA with 25 HRS, he will be traded in the offseason for most likely pitching needs, starting/relieving
