  1. Watch out American League, Manny is looking like he can go on one of his torrid 2nd halves first 2 games back he has 6 RBIs
  2. Manny/Lugo saved your ass Tavarez! Tito a different f***ing pitcher in the 4th please
  3. its now 4-2, but Tito will keep him in there because its 2 outs
  4. 6 straight men have reached base!! Earth to Tito, he doesnt have his stuff
  5. and next batter he gives up an RBI single, pineiro/snyder should be warming up. The JT experiment had its fun but since we're seeing him as our 4th starter... Im getting sick to my stomach
  6. The bench player gets an 0-2 count (leads AL in 2 strike hits) 2 out double
  7. He fares worse when facing the lineup the 2nd time around EDIT: Manny! Holy s***, are our boys coming back to force?
  8. Really now, Williams would reject the best pitching prospect who is basically on the doorstep of the majors, solid center field prospect that can ignite the lineup, and another good pitching prospect with 2/3 potential?
  9. Who cares? Lugo/Youkilis... 2 players with seasons going in opposite directions, and this is your best jab to prove some fans wrong that Youk isnt the 1st half MVP? Honestly, Im not surprised that Scaffolds made a thread like this. Youkilis has been a solid player his first 2 seasons as a starter, but no he should leave the team or be demoted to the bench... sorry not buying those 2 options happening anytime soon
  10. Wait... Sox offered Bucholz (baseball's best pitching prospect), Ellsbury, Bowden? I would drive down to Boston to become part of the mob on Yawkey Way if Theo ever considered doing such a thing Williams held off because he could get more? And the Mets offer of Pelfrey and Milledge was a better offer than that blockbuster trio the Sox would give away? Id def say take it with a grain of salt... no offense but who's to say that guy wasnt busting your balls?
  11. Marcum this season vs Boston in 3 games, 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. On the road in 11 games, 3-1 with a 2.79 ERA Tavarez this season vs Toronto in 2 games, 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA. At home in 5 games, 2-3 with a 4.30 ERA
  12. Yess Sox win, 54-34, back to 20 games above .500 Wake did enough for his boys to win, nice to see him getting more run support. With him improving his season record to 10-8, the Sox are the first team in baseball to have 3 ten win pitchers. No wonder why we've had trouble with teh Blue Jays... before this year, Wake's last start against Toronto was sept, 2005 Great to see the 3/4 combo of Manny and Ortiz knock in 5 runs tonight. As well as Lugo rolling out with the hits. Hopefully this game sets the tempo for the 2nd half offense MDC, Oka, Paps... goodnight EDIT: Joel Pineiro has been activated off of the DL, Jeff Bailey down. The bullpen is back to a 7 man staf of: Pineiro, Snyder, Lopez, Timlin, MDC, Okajima, Paps Donnelly will begin his rehab stint in Single-A Lowell. The Sox must now meet to decide who will be moved to make way for him once he too is activated from the DL
  13. And last offseason, to improve their offense they had just traded for Jose Vidro to be the new DH. Now passing the All-Star break, the M's will now have top prospect Adam Jones in right, Sexson at DH... and Vidro on the bench. They also traded top setup man Soriano for starting pitcher Horacio Ramirez. Oh and signed Jeff Weaver to an $8 million contract
  14. Halladay this season vs Boston in 4 games, 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA. At Fenway Park in 2 games, 1-1 with a 5.53 ERA. On the road in 8 games, 4-2 with a 5.81 ERA Wakefield this season vs Toronto in 4 games, 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA. At home in 9 games, 6-3 with a 5.13 ERA
  15. Another option would have Dye being the 4th OF Id rather deal Lowell than Youkilis. Lowell is reaching his mid 30s and will be a free agent, Youkilis is just entering his prime and is in his late 20s. Ugh Ortiz at 1st? Its bad enough he's going to get an MRI done on his knees (per channel 4 boston news)
  16. Nice showing by the Sox. Josh Beckett got the win after throwing 2 scoreless innings and striking out 2. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless inning and struck out 2. And Lowell signled and scored in his only AB While Ortiz and Manny went a combined 0 for 3, and Okajima wasnt able to pitch. Actually relieved Okajima didnt pitch, guy needs the deserving rest
  17. That was the early reporting by Ken Rosenthal. Since the Seattle times has said otherwise, Rosenthal is now saying 90-100
  18. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7009112 The M's look to lock up one of the would be top free agents this offseason. Helps matters for Ichiro that Hargrove is now out of the picture. It is said to be 5 years, $75-90 million
  19. That is true. Curt being out since early June has in a way hurt this team. Also his last 2 starts made were uninspiring
  20. 1st Half Awards MVP-- Hideki Okajima Cy Young-- Josh Beckett Best Glove-- Coco Crisp. Last year we saw AGon and Lowell get robbed, at this rate Crisp should get the gold glove this year Best Catch-- Hinske's "leap of faith", face first catch against the Tigers Best Rookie callup standout-- Jacoby Ellsbury Best Game-- Mother's Day Victory Best Moment-- Back to Back to Back to Back homeruns against the Yankees Disappointment of a Position Player-- Julio Lugo Disappointment of a Pitcher-- Hmmm... This year my beef has only been with Pineiro (now on DL), Romero (released, signed with Phillies) and Timlin but he's been good as of late 1st Half Comeback Position Player-- Dustin Pedroia 1st Half Comeback Pitcher-- Josh Beckett Most Underrated Player-- Alex Cora How do you guys see it as?
  21. The AL lineup is Ichiro CF Jeter SS Ortiz 1B Rodriguez 3B Guerrero RF Ordonez LF Rodriguez C Polanco 2B Haren P Ortiz, Rodriguez, now thats a 3/4 Id like to see in 2008
  22. If his future is best suited as a 2nd baseman, than he could be good trade bait for the Sox. As long as Pedroia keeps playing the way he has in his career then the job at 2nd is his to keep
  23. Actually I said that he quickly wrote him off and said he was the 2nd coming of Cesar Crespo. No, no one expected him to hit .320 in the 1st half... but still he did take from a small sample size and predict that would be the type of hitter he would be. Hence he was wrong. Maybe its because Ive been a long time advocate for Pedroia BTW I still laugh to remember posts from other posters in this thread back in April asking for a trade for Jorge Cantu to take over . All the while I said "I'll be sitting pretty when he starts producing ands becomes a fan favorite"
  24. Until he actually shows signs of life, Im just calling him "DP" from here on out
  25. Check the Mark Buehrle rumor thread "Schil".... its just been reported, Buehrle signs 4 year extension
