  1. Favorites are in bold. I think I got 'em all right. Arizona at Detroit (-4) Baltimore at Jacksonville (-6.5) Houston at Indianapolis (-17.5) Kansas City at Buffalo (-2.5) Minnesota at N.Y. Giants (-9.5) New England (-3) at Miami San Francisco at Chicago (-12.5) Denver (-3) at Oakland N.Y. Jets at Carolina (-9) Green Bay at Atlanta (-9.5) St. Louis at Seattle (-6.5) Washington (-1) at Tampa Bay Cleveland at Pittsburgh (-8) Dallas at Philadelphia (-3) My Picks... Detroit (-4) Jacksonville (-6.5) Houston (+17.5) Kansas City (+2.5) Minnesota (+9.5) Miami (+3) Chicago (-12.5) Denver (-3) Carolina (-9) Atlanta (-9.5) St. Louis (+6.5) Tampa Bay (+1) Cleveland (+8) Dallas (+3) Sorry for stealing your thunder, Sox fan on Cape... I just couldn't wait to get into the picking, this week.
  2. I saw a nice photoshop one day on another forum that I frequent... Here is the link to said photoshop. Wouldn't mind seeing it in real life. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v303/ucla31/rfurcalredsox.jpg
  3. I've been thinking a lot about it and... I want T.O. I want T.O. wearing a Denver Broncos jersey next season. What's the worst he can do, tear down Jake Plummer or throw him under the bus? Too late, he already missed that bandwagon as the entire population of Denver, myself excluded, has already done that in the past and Plummer's still having a MVP caliber season. Say what you want about the guy, but you can't deny that he loves the game of football, and he'll give you everything he has to give you. The 49ers are my other team of choice (less-so now, since York became the owner), and it seemed like when he was on the 49ers, he was always playing through two injured ankles and a pulled groin, or something to that effect. His teammates on the 49ers, though, not Jeff Garcia, said T.O. was a great teammate and loved playing with him. I think the Eagles could've saved themselves a lot of trouble by giving him the money he deserved, or trading him right then and there.
  4. That's a shame for Priest Holmes. He was a great player. Unfortunately, everywhere he's been, he's been replaced. At Texas, he gets injured and in comes Ricky Williams. In Baltimore, they draft Jamal Lewis, who takes the starting spot. In Kansas City, he goes down, and in comes Larry Johnson. It's too bad to see come to an end a career that was, at times, brilliant -- especially under these circumstances.
  5. You can use it, Tex. It shouldn't be too hard to find sig material in the rest of that post.
  6. I've said it all along... weak schedule or not... they've beaten the teams they've been supposed to. Who else has done that?
  7. Does anyone else remember when this guy was crying after he made 'The Catch II' against the Packers in the playoffs? That's the last image I can think of that would suggest him having played for the love of the game -- and that starts to faded out every time he pulls something like this. He used to be my favorite player in sports -- well, behind Jerry Rice, that is. But now, he's easily the player I hate most. This guy is really digging his own grave. The last time he was traded, there were very few teams that made an effort to get him. Everybody knew of his antics and what he could do to a team. That's why the 49ers only managed to get a 5th round pick and Brandon Whiting. That's not even close to a 'fair trade' -- but Owens wanted out, and that's the most the 49ers could do. Now his reputation has gotten much worse, and frankly, I don't see many teams going after him. I can't see the Broncos signing him -- not after the experience with Daryl Gardner. Unless Shanahan's ego allows him to believe that he can keep guys with attitudes and egos under control after what he's done with the Browns' Defensive Line. The only team I can see signing him is Atlanta, and only because one of their coaches (WR Coach, I believe) has a good relationship with Terrell Owens and is thought to be one of the only guys in the NFL with the power to keep T.O. under control. Even then, he hasn't gotten along with their offensive coordinator (Knapp?) in the past. Though, if the Broncos did sign him, they'd be absolutely amazing.
  8. I think I got all but one game correct, in my picks. Granted, it's not picking against the spread -- but it's still fairly impressive.
  9. Yeah, so much for the Patriots owning Manning.
  10. Just got back from the Nuggets/Blazers game. The Nuggets were dominant in their first game with Karl on the bench, winning by 39 points. I wish Earl Watson got more playing time than he does. He looked very good tonight.
  11. The 23 was to honor Jordan, the 91 was to honor Rodman, as you said -- I thought I remembered him saying he was going to honor a new person every year. Maybe he's no longer doing it, anymore.
  12. Educated guess.
  13. New England barely beat Buffalo at home. I don't care what mental edge New England has -- they're not that good of a team. Indianapolis over New England. Quote me on that one... unless New England wins.
  14. Atlanta at Miami Carolina at Tampa Bay Cincinnati at Baltimore Detroit at Minnesota Houston at Jacksonville Oakland at Kansas City San Diego at New York Jets Tennessee at Cleveland Chicago at New Orleans N.Y Giants at San Francisco Seattle at Arizona Pittsburgh at Green Bay Philadelphia at Washington Monday Nighter Indianapolis at New England
  15. Has anybody seen such a bizarre opening to a game? Pitt fumbled the opening kickoff, and it was eventually recovered in the endzone by Louisville. That, in itself, is bizarre. Then, on the ensuing kickoff, Pitt ran it all the way back for a TD.
  16. Nuggets just dropped another game. Thank god George Karl's suspension is up because Scott Brooks is absolutely horrible as a coach. All game, I kept having flashbacks of Jeff BzDelik or Michael Cooper on the sideline, with the team playing with absolutely no discipline. They stood around on offense, never looked to run, no timeouts to break momentum when they needed them. Ugh.
  17. I'm gonna add that Nene will most likely miss the rest of the season. I wanted Kiki to trade him so badly... we could've tried to get Michael Redd if we were willing to give him up last season. I wish they'd fire Kiki.
  18. I hope the White Sox winning it results in people jumping back off the Red Sox bandwagon. Too many people coincidentally 'found' their Red Sox merchandise following their World Series win and I happened to get complimented on my Red Sox attire about 3 times as often as before they won.
  19. The Nuggets didn't look so hot, but all things considered, it wasn't a totally awful showing. They were horribly coached tonight. Their assistant coach, who was filling in for Karl, didn't call timeouts to break the momentum when he needed to, they stood in place on offense. Both things that should be corrected when Karl returns to the bench.
  20. Nice ones, Empire and SFOC -- 11-3 is tough to do.
  21. Other team in SoCal? s***... other team in LA.
  22. It'll be tough... but I think Texas A&M is capable of it, especially at home. I don't think they'll pull it off, though
  23. I just figured I'd add that those unis that Va Tech wore were absolutely atrocious. I think Nike will be doing something similar with the Miami unis this week, and if not this week, one of these coming weeks.
  24. Congratulations, your team swept a team that didn't deserve a spot in the playoffs to begin with. I'm not bitter -- I've never once been bitter about how this season ended. Next season, let's see if you can lose your Ace and your closer and repeat. I noticed you chose not to defend your team, and your teams fanbase, by disputing my ratings point -- or, perhaps it's because you can't come up with an excuse as to why your 'well-known' team played in such a little-watched World Series that even you're dumb enough to believe. Face it, nobody cares about your team -- World Champions or not. It's funny that you chastise the Yankees and Red Sox fans, on seperate boards of course, as if your teams fanbase has been worth a s***. The day your team's stadium operates above 70% capacity, let alone 98%, or you're team isn't the second most popular in your city -- then you can come back and criticise us. As for now, enjoy being the 'best team ever' for the next year and don't buy into the hype machine that is ESPN too much. Are you suggesting I'm not a real Red Sox fan because I don't excuse a poor performance of a season because of what they did last year? That's absolute ********. I've said it all along -- being defending champions was nice, but it did nothing towards winning us games this year. The World Series was great -- but one's never enough. While it's great that you're able to inadvertently admit that your team gets a free pass next year based on having won the World Series -- that's not the case for me, and it's not the case for real fans. As for you... the Cubs are due up next, I believe... so grab your Cubs hat and get ready to jump back onto that bandwagon, next year.
  25. Interesting that you bring up market size, Chitown, because here's a fun fact. The 3rd and 4th largest markets just played eachother in the World Series. The result? One of the lowest rated World Series' ever. Game 1's ratings were down 31% from last years game 1, despite and almost identical storyline to the World Series itself. Game 1's ratings were up only 1% from that of game 1 of the Angels/Giants series -- which ended up being the lowest rated ever. If you're team isn't a team of unknowns... why did nobody care to watch them? How are poor ratings in a World Series sweep a positive for Major League Baseball? In addition to this... in Colorado, I was hardpressed to find anybody that actually cared who won! That sure as hell wasn't the case last year. Say what you want about the Red Sox and Yankees, and there fans (to whom you kiss up to -- both sides) -- but the Red Sox and Yankees in primetime, on National TV, no matter how early in the season, are like Tiger Woods leading a Major on Sunday... guarenteed ratings. In other words... people care.
