  1. Apparently someone told Jimenez that he needs to get his entire workout in in the first two innings tonight.
  2. Was it Mike Scuttlebut from the Denver Post?
  3. Any chance that Jimenez and Ludwick both get taken off the field due to a pending trade? Ludwick just doubled off him.
  4. I'm not seeing the high velocity from Jimenez yet, mostly 94ish, but with plenty of movement. Hard to know in this circumstance what would be going on in his head. Seems like he's throwing plenty of offspeed stuff. Doesn't look uncomfortable though, maybe just a bit unfocused.
  5. This is f***ing bizarre, watching Jimenez be pulled, then warm up, now pitching at SD, with a pitcher warming in the 1st. Something is obviously immenent, but if it were just a formality they probably wouldn't have started him, no?
  6. Anderson and Lackey, I heard. EDIT: From industry sources.
  7. Doesn't mean he can't be useful for the stretch run.
  8. Although I see it as a mostly mind-numbing tool, Twitter is made for these next 18 hours.
  9. Yes. I love that Theo explores every option thoroughly. It's great.
  10. Ubaldo will be starting tonight...
  11. none of these twitter reporters are reliable... that's the way these trade deadlines go. I find the off-season and deadline to be the most exciting time of the year, to be honest.
  12. In any case, given the players being talked about the Sox can't compete. Their MLB ready guys are not quite ready enough, and their competition has better players to offer.
  13. The supposed package CLE is offering is the type that should be landed for a player like Jimenez. I hope it isn't true, but it makes sense.
  14. I'm proud to say that this humble little thread, started on a whim a few short weeks ago, is now the 5th most replied-to thread in Talksox history with 1500+ replies. Who should I thank for this? Let me unfold my list here... Seriously though, for a relatively unexciting trade deadline there has been a lot of activity on this thread. Ubaldo Jimenez isn't THAT exciting, but this team is. Now, with another 3000 posts we can compete with the 2010-2011 offseason thread.
  15. The Rockies are only lowering their offer if they are really intent on moving Jimenez. Clearly this isn't the Felix Hernandez situation from 2009. Make a splash Theo. It won't hurt.
  16. Kuroda would be interesting. I don't put much weight on him as an acquisition, and don't really think of him has a significant move, more in the Jeff Suppan 2003 category. I know he's been good in LA, and I'd be open to counter-arguments. He would be a true #4 or #5 addition for this club. That's factually what they need, but I think it is fair to say we had hoped for more. As for Aviles, he may be a more polished version Navarro. It just seems like a weird thing to put so many years and games into Navarro to trade him for an older, potentially less talented version of himself. I like the cost-controlledness of it, but Aviles isn't particularly young (30). He may just be the Marco Scutaro/multi-position player for this club moving forward off the bench. I would prefer that he be part of a deal somewhere else though.
  17. If they're looking for a "roll the dice" kind of guy, they might as well stick with Miller and Weiland moving forward. Bedard is impressive when he's on, but this isn't a team that should be testing guys out down the stretch unless they absolutely have to. I see no reason to avoid Bedard, but they shouldn't give up much for him. He may be great, he may be Wade Miller #2. I suspect they will make a really hard push at Jimenez over the next 48 hours. That would be a significant splash and would definitely aid this team, regardless of how good the trade pieces become. EDIT: don't want to start a new thread, but Phillies added Hunter Pence. Clearly they see the WS within reach... I hope Theo is thinking as aggressively.
  18. It may be down, but he's 10th in MLB in velocity for qualified starters. Ahead of other ineffective fastballs like Felix Hernandez, Josh Beckett and Jon Lester. I was concerned about that as well, but after watching some of his highlights it looks like he's pretty strong.
