  1. C'mon Manny. Put a charge in one man.
  2. that 2-2 FB Papi fouled off could have gone yard. MMmmm
  3. Thank GOD 92 pitches for Young.
  4. He should have belted that pitch. Damn it.
  5. Alright Pedroia, time to get on base buddy.
  6. Ohhh, generous edge but a nice pitch.
  7. Good AB by Crisp. Let's see if he can foul-off/lay off the slider down and in to pick up ball 3...
  8. Teams like having Wakefield against the ropes. When he's rolling he is very difficult, but when he's struggling everything seems to get hit hard.
  9. hammer hammer hammer hammer It's getting dark in this little box...
  10. I think that's what they are trying to do, with all those powerful swing-and-misses. I get the sense that Young is a difficult pitcher to read with his motion. They obviously aren' tpicking up the ball very well.
  11. Meanwhile, Khalil Greene takes a slow-pitch softball pitch out of the yard. Is Mirabelli the 3rd pitcher ORS?
  12. This is embarassing. 9 K's in 4.2 is absurd. He's definitely not throwing that well.
  13. I'm never that impressed with Young. He has had a lot of success but his stuff just doesn't seem that explosive to me. He does have a strange motion and a little hitch in his delivery, but they should manage to get him out of the game. He is really attacking the plate, however, and the sox haven't it. Until Drew's first hit. Nice looking swing JD.
  14. Bard goes down looking at a fastball.
  15. After the first inning he was everything he needed to be. He got himself into moderate jams and got himself out, both I believe with at least one out at the time. The first inning will stain our memory of this game but overall he was very good. It is very hard to complain about 9K and 1 ER to begin the west coast portion of the roadtrip. He will probably be pretty happy with his performance and forget about the first inning. He was consistently hitting 94 when he needed to and his breaking stuff had nasty movement. That first inning killed him.
  16. The great thing is that this team is not overachieving. They are playing like they should. Their expected wins (based on James' pythagorean formula) is 45-26. They are winning close games seemingly by keeping runners off the bases in the 7th, 8th and 9th. It is amazing.
  17. Anyone laughing now? He is straight NASTY. In Sports Illustrated they polled a number of MLB executives about who they would choose to start a team with. #1 was Jose Reyes, #2 was Papelbon (by one measure) and A-Rod by another. his stock continues to rise and he keeps getting better. His shoulder looks strong and the sox haven't even had to use him very much. When was the last time they used him in the 8th inning?
  18. LOCK AND LOAD. K, VICTORY, GREAT VICTORY BY A GREAT TEAM.
  19. generous strike. Nice movement on it though.
  20. I'm not laughing now. Get'r done.
  21. nice conservative play by Murph. I don't like Gonzalez in this situation. C'mon paps.
