  1. Whenever Sale pitches, I think "man, I wish that guy was on the Red Sox". I also think "wow, Thunder has some bizarre taste in music".
  2. The White Sox have the entire itinerary of a guy's dream Valentine's Day night: 1. Flowers Sale 2. Eaton Semien 3. Dunn
  3. He tied the finger up with strands from his beard. He meant to use the ultra-strong material as an unbreakable splint, but it actually healed the finger instead.
  4. Nava has some rope, he had a full season last year and did his job well, there's no reason to send him back to the minors based on the first two weeks of the season any more than there would be a reason to send down Pedroia. Roberts, though, was never a starter, and his performance thus far isn't really that unexpected. He's in there because they need him to be, I'll just be glad to see the back of him.
  5. Excellent lineup for the Sox today, once Victorino and WMB are back, that lineup will look even better. I'm not getting all "the sky is falling" this early in the season, but I will say without reservation that Ryan Roberts is a useless lump and I can't wait until he's not in the lineup anymore.
  6. Seriously, given the stereotypes, you'd think the Navy would give up on terminology like "Seaman" and "poop deck" and so on. Why make it so easy?
  7. The new pitcher is named Leury. The Sox have gotten into the part of the bullpen made up of guys whose names were clearly made up from a handful of Scrabble tiles. This guy might not actually exist.
  8. I can't believe you left early! What are you, a Dodgers fan?!
  9. Mujica in again. What's the story with Koji? Is he going on the DL?
  10. Yeah, this has been a supremely slow and boring game on both sides.
  11. Wow, Jacko with the reasonable, logical post. My skin feels all crawly.
  12. Don't worry, De Aza this guy's going to strike out.
  13. I can't wait until Napoli is back. I love Nava but he's not exactly Kevin Youkilis at first base.
  14. Nava gonna let you down. On defense.
  15. I know, I can't even bring myself to make a joke, it's just too easy.
  16. I shaved today because I had a job interview, and needed to look a lot less scruffy than I usually do. I still have the goatee and mustache, though, so that should count for at least a HR or two.
  17. ? Bogaerts played a bit last season. I don't know what you mean, unless you are talking about someone else.
  18. And the Yankees only have two more wins. The Brewers have the best record in baseball. It's amazing how things look when the season has barely started.
  19. You are unbelievable. It's APRIL 15th. There are almost 150 games left in the baseball season. Calling someone a choker after slightly more than two weeks of the season is ridiculous. For every season the Sox started slowly in the spring and the beginning of the season, I can pull up a season that they did well in spring and sucked to start the season, or one where they sucked in spring training and did well to start the season. And you know what? They didn't win the World Series in lots of those seasons. My memory is fine. I remember week or two week long periods in EVERY season since I joined this site where the Sox did poorly and everyone reacted like they had just executed all of the starters with machine-gun fire and replaced them with Special Olympians. The Sox will pick up. Things are starting slow, but Victorino, Pedroia, and Middlebrooks will be back. The pitchers who are struggling will stabilize and they will not suffer from poor run support forever. The Sox will contend. There is still snow piled in parking lots here in Connecticut, for christs sake. It's early. The sky is not falling, the Sox are just slumping. If this was happening in September, I would be concerned. I'm pretty sure it won't still be happening then.
  20. Locking the gamethread because a lot of you are being ridiculous.
  21. I don't think it's possible to sleep for that long.
  22. He was the black baseball player who broke the color barrier. Despite death threats and opposition from fans, players, and even his own teammates, he went out on the field and played baseball. He was a small part of a larger movement. A movement dedicated to bringing equal rights for every American citizen to the forefront of the law. We celebrate Jackie Robinson Day once a year to honor and remember the bravery and commitment of not only Robinson, but all of the people of every ethnicity who were part of the Civil Rights movement. It's a single 24-hour period of the 162-game baseball season given over to an honorable purpose: the celebration of human courage, decency, and social progress. But yeah, you're really edgy, dude.
