What I don't get as far as the closer arguments is why the only two options are Bailey and Papelbon. If Bailey never closes again, why is Papelbon even being discussed? Is he literally the only person in baseball capable of closing?
Oh yeah! Destroyah! He was cool too, though I didn't know him as well. I miss SOTK most of all though, I wish he'd come back. It must be nice to have friends and stuff in real life.
My computer slows down drastically the more posts per page there are. I still can't afford a new laptop so as long as I'm on my stepdad's old desktop computer it's sloooow going.
Did anyone see the leaping catch by the Twins ballboy? There were a couple people behind him with their backs turned, lucky for them he was paying attention.
I don't. Given how injury-ridden he has been of late and how unproductive he has been when he has played most of this and the last season, it's clear he had deteriorated past the point of being a viable starting player. They were right to trade him (though I wish they had received more in return than they did), I just wish he could have signed with literally any team but the Yankees.
That's the thing, there is no reason to believe he's going to pitch like he has the last four games. It's only four games. On top of that, Bailey has only blown three of those nine opportunities. The rest of the bullpen is always going to let up some tying runs, no matter how good they are.
I don't hate Papelbon, I just don't want the Sox to spend money or prospects on a guy who has already parted ways with the Sox. It is possible to not want the Red Sox to sign a guy without hating him. I don't want them to offer a contract to Kevin Youkilis either, and he was my favorite player for six years.
I hate you all so much sometimes. You're all being jerks to each other. Stop it. Talk about Andrew Bailey without insulting each other or don't post in here at all. Three of the four pages of this thread are absolutely useless.
Seriously? Fried chicken and beer? That horse was killed, beaten, atomized, and dispersed throughout the cosmos a couple years ago. Lots of players are injured and come back. It's a little early to assume that he's not going to recover from one injured season. And again, his stats this season are in 11 save opportunities. Let's wait until things have progressed a bit.
