  1. Couple moves today. Red Sox acquire Van Buren from the Cubs for a PTBN, Former Columbus Clippers catcher (2004) signed with Philly, former Red Sock (Early last year, traded to SD in MAY) Jason Kershner signed with Milwaukee, Yankees signed RP Dusty Bergman, and Tim Worrell returns to San Francisco (left for the Phillies before 04). Nothin huge, but still stuff of note.
  2. Naa...Cash is driving this year.
  3. Good point about Crosby and being sent down and everything. That will not be the case next year as he is, I believe, out of options, meaning that if we want to send him down we have to get him through waivers and he would have to approve being sent down (if he cleared, which I doubt he would). I think a worst case scenario that really wouldnt be that bad would be to sign Preston Wilson to a 1-2 year deal just to keep the spot warm for Melky or Kevin Thompson.
  4. I think this is ridiculous. The Red Sox arguement (according to what I heard on Cold Pizza earlier) is that the only reason Mientkiewicz had possession of the ball was because he was a Red Sox employee, making the ball property of the Red Sox. That's ********, the ball is property of Major League Baseball. Major League Baseball, not the Red Sox, purchase the balls from Rawlings. I think the Sox are taking this to an extreme. Granted, I can understand their desire for the ball, but if they want it back so much pony up some $$$ and wave it in front of Doug's face. He did nothing wrong, legally, or in my opinion morally ny taking that ball.
  5. I find that IMPOSSIBLE to believe. IF Luccino and co. called Omar right now and said Manny for Aaron/Lastings, Omar would say yes without thought or hesitation.
  6. According to mlbtraderumors.com Giles has agreed to a 3yr/$34mil contract with the Padres. They say that Kevin Towers sent an appology to Giles' agent and a deal was struck quickly. This is no the most reliable source, but I felt it should still be posted.
  7. Oh. I thought I remembered him signing a 1yr minor league contract last year. My mistake.
  8. I did not realize he was his personal catcher in Arizona. I thought last year was his first in Arizona. My mistake. I just wish we could have gotten someone more versatile like Lo Duca (plays 1B and corner outfield) or Hammock (plays 3B and Corner Outfield). But Stinett works. Me Too!!!
  9. Not a bad trade idea at all IMO. That is one of those trades that would take weeks and weeks to work out. Also, as a Yankee fan, it would bring a tear to my eye to see Rickey Ledee in a Sox uni. BTW, isnt Ledee a FA anyway?
  10. At their best that is fine. But obviously, they canot always be at their best. They are all inconsistent. Glavine has thrown a couple great games last year, Benson at his best is pretty good, Zambrano went on that little month long run or so last year where he was pretty lights out. But I agree, Mets need another starter.
  11. Made Updates
  12. Not Surprised. Happy someone isnt all about the Dollars.
  13. LMAO  Isnt Smallie a Free Agent?
  14. December 16th they go on sale at the Stadium, I dont know the date they go on sale online. I would try December 16-17 for Auction sites, im sure people will be buying them on the morning of the 16th and auctioning them off. Not that bad, dont mind it much. Still hopeful that we get either Hammock or Lo Duca. IS this a Minor League deal? If so, then Stinnett could just be getting a shot to win the position in ST, and not so much be guaranteed the spot.
  15. Nothing of significance, just a personal thing I thought I would share Remember how we were talking about ticket prices 2 pages back, well appearantly a VERY CLOSE family friend has a brother who is a very well respected New York City Detective. His LT. appearantly just gave him Season Tickets, Championship Boxes, all 81 games (Police Dept. is a pretty good connection ). Thing is, this detective is not that big a baseball fan, just a casual fan. Take a guess who gets to go to a lot of the games that he is unable to go to... ..time's up. A: ME!! I was in bliss when I heard this, it is some of the most amazing news I have gotten recently. It's been a pretty rough couple of months, this definately helps!
  16. works for me!
  17. Very kind of you Rick...way to go!
  18. DEFINATELY No way does Brian Giles deserve a 5 year deal. I have a hard enough time with us giving him a 3 year deal. Ryan I can understand completely, and even Burnett to an extent, as a risky, yet potentially rewarding option. But I dont see how they can give Giles a 5 year contract. I think they have the Dollars backwards, I would give RYan the 55, Burnett the 50, and Giles the 47, but they have it backwards Just thought I would point that out. Riccardi and Rogers really want to win next year.
  19. I read this morning, and Becket95 posted earlier, that it looks like we might be getting Mike Myers. He didnt look that great last year and at the start of this one (imo), but he did impress me a little bit as time went on. What can you guys tell me about him?
  20. I happen to like both of those for the Red Sox. I dont think the Mets give Floyd though. Just my feeling. But very good proposals there.
  21. June 15 Unless the player consents to a trade before then.
  22. Scott Proctor, Matt Smith, etc.. (we have some good arms in the minors that will be in camp) Also, mentioned earlier in the thread the possibility of signing some of the not-so-notable relievers out there. I think we'll be ok.
  23. I dont know exactly how I feel about this one. Loaiza isnt much of a threat, aside from 2003 I dont think the AL is for him. We'll see how it pans out though. If Zito is on the block I would expect the Yankees to make a huge push at him, the Red Sox of coarse, and the Mets. I think he is more likely to go to the Mets of the three. He loves Rick Peterson, and the Mets are in the NL, wouldnt be able to hurt Oakland. But Beane is smart, he would destroy the Mets farm on that trade, or what is left of it after they make all of these trades. The Sox probably have what it takes to get him, and the Yanks have what it takes, we're just not willing to part with it. And rightfully so.
  24. The Giants arent even my favorite team and I was ashamed today. What a horrible loss. Feeley is going to take a beating.
  25. Pedro Glavine Benson Trachsel Seo/Zambrano All of those guys at their best make a pretty nice rotation. Problem is that they are inconsistent, and injury prone. Definately wouldnt hurt to get some insurance.
