  1. Since when has Hanley become Chone Figgins?
  2. Most Yankee fans have seen this coming for some time now. He has been on a steady climb upward. His average was going up and up. First he began hitting plenty of line-drive singles towards the outfield. Then he began hitting doubles in the gaps or off the wall. Now he has began hitting the ball deep. Now, I think it is one of two things. 1) He has regained his stroke back and pitcher's forgot how to handle a healthy Giambi. 2) He is back on some hormone or drug that helps one develop bat speed. I think the first is more likely because Giambi has been sighted spending hours and hours working in the cages with Donnie.
  3. Wang also pitched better games with Flats behind the plate. It has been rumored that the Yankees minor league staff was upset with the way Posada called Sean Henn's games also.
  4. OK fine, a closed minded Sox fan knows more about my Yankees than me. If you don't watch the games you don't know. Posada doesn't do anything. His homeruns come in blowouts and his RBIs are padded by games where the hitters in front of him dominate mediocre pitchers like Travis Harper. But on the other hand, Flaherty the last few years has actually made a surprising difference in games he wiggles into. But I wouldn't know because you OBVIOUSLY have more knowledge on the Yankees than I do. Two games against the Sox come to mind. The John Flaherty double off Clement turned out to practically be the difference in the game.... and his walk-off single against Leskanic on July 1st of last year, those are two legitimate hits that I can't think of comparisons for Jorge, he just isn't a clutch hitter whatsoever. Flaherty is a superior defensive player, but he played once a week if he was lucky earlier on in the season, but now that he is getting consistent playing time he actually can work on his stroke. But he is still just a back-up, but if you don't just live in stats you would've have witnessed that he has been the difference in games, through plays at the plate, clutch hits, sac bunts, or just the way he calls the game. Plus I know I am not the only Yankee fan who thinks this. I would feel more comfortable when John Flaherty starts, I feel like we have much more of a chance to win.
  5. I don't understand why anyone would want Torre fired, but if you watched Posada everyday you would understand why they want him benched. When he catches we get worse pitching perormances, he doesn't hit anymore, and he is most fundamentally unsound catcher in the bigs. He doesn't block the plate, he is mediocre at blocking balls in the dirt, and he doesn't even throw out runners anymore. Meanwhile John Flaherty (who is a back-up by trade) gets clutch hits when he plays, blocks the plate, calls a incredibly better game, and does all the defensive things a catcher should do.
  6. Like I said, the YES Boards insult anyone's intelligence. Don't use them as a bar for comparison.
  7. Edwardo Sierra, Melky Cabrera, and Scott Proctor for Griffey and Mercker was another rumor swirling.
  8. Better you than Boner.
  9. Hold your horses, kiddo. Jeter, Matsui, Giambi, A-Rod, Bernie, etc... are all AL hitters. Don't count on anything, especially since Burnett hasn't truly seen the light of the AL East.
  10. Well, I don't think the YES Network boards are a fair example. They are the worst sports boards on the internet. At one point all of the YES posters with a sliver of intelligence moved to a private board where real conversations are had. There you have people who defend Bernie Williams with every word they type and people who defend Torre and who use actual logic. Its a different scenario, ask stocker. He has been known to post there on occasion.
  11. ********. Phil Hughes is not going to the Reds. They made it very clear to Oakland that he isn't going anywhere. The deal will be Melky, Proctor, and Edwardo Sierra, which is crap. Melky sucks, Proctor is a non-prospect, and Sierra has mental issues and no command. As is, we have Hughes and Wang, who are great. Christian Garcia is still very young and has what scouts have said is an above average major-league hook and he throws in the mid-90's and we also have Tyler Clippard who at the age of about 20 is showing signs of dominance. Hughes, Wang, Clippard, and Garcia are names to watch for. Your system has better arms overall, but the Yankees system is going through the same transformation the Sox system did a few years ago.
  12. Talk about obsessed.
  13. Boy, I wish my Yankees were as smart in the draft as your guys' beloved Sox.
  14. Javier Vazquez was an all-star last year.
  15. Wells is definetly your best starter. Clement is starting to faulter (ala Vazquez), but Wells appears to get better as the season moves on, which is always true. He's great for a stretch run and he's one of the best big game pitchers I have had the pleasure to watch.
  16. I'm never going to call him the next Rod Carew until he puts of a Carew-like season. But right now he projects to be a good .300+ hitter with around 20 homeruns every year, which from the second base spot is outstanding.
  17. Typical five tool prospect if you ask me. There are plenty of them all over baseball, he just happens to be one of the select few who puts up the numbers in the minors to be a top, top prospect. But the majors are very different. If he works out in the majors to his potential, chances are you find end up with a perennial all-star who becomes a great player in the game. But with all the Griffeys, A-Rods, Sorianos, and Vlads, come the Raul Mondesis and Ruben Riveras.
  18. Cano has big things in his future. Big, big things. Unlike our second attempt at the "Cano magic", Melky Cabrera who won't amount to anything except being traded for Eric Byrnes.
  19. Cox is overrated. He has the potential to be a good closer, but not in the same league as the Hansens, Devines, Corderos, and Streets. His breaking ball is nice but his control needs some work. I was originally very disappointed with the draft of Henry, but his numbers thus far have been good and he has really good speed and has been slugging som XBH for our GCL affiliate. Within the next few years, he will be moved to the outfield where he projects to play pretty much any outfield position, he has the arm and the bat. Hansen would've been better for us because he would've added another set-up man to our arsenal very quickly, but Henry could turn out to be one of the absolute top outfield prospects with his athleticism and tools.
  20. I have. I live not far from St. John's college. He is going to be an absolute stud for the Sox bullpen. Think mid to high 90's fastball with pinpoint control, put-'em away slider, and extreme durability. Perfect pitcher's body and he has guts. He even made an emergency start for his team and went 7 innings and got the win.
  21. I have no clue why you guys haven't called up Pedroia yet. He'd fit perfectly in for you.
  22. You are so lucky to have Hansen. He will great for you guys one day.
  23. Shawn Wooten is not a bad hitter.
