  1. Rumor was he was pitching injured this year, so his stuff may actually be better next year if he gets completely healthy.
  2. See, I'm not all bad elsrbueno.
  3. The Yankee board I post at had an outstanding display of sympathy and care towards Matt.
  4. I watch the Yankees on a daily basis and I have never seen any chemistry problems, especially since chemistry is the biggest load of ********. Winning breeds chemistry. That is all you need to know.
  5. Pavano is supposed to be back this weekend supposedly, Wright is coming back in August and will be put in the bullpen, and Wang has been working out and feeling no pain.
  6. I don't think the Yankees feel Nomo is the answer. Basically they are doing the strategy of "throw enough s*** against the wall and some is bound to stick". ....paraphrasing a another poster on another board... Pitching is kinda like sex, everyone wants, not everyone gets it. But when you are desperate, you will pick up just about anything off the street.
  7. That was the joke my friend.
  8. If you are accusing Alex Rodriguez of steroid use I reccomend you see a therapist.
  9. If you think Bonds-like is a shot at Ortiz, think what you want. Bonds had one of the all-time greatest post seasons offensively and for him to compare Ortiz to this future HoF'er and almost postseason hero is as much of a compliment as you can get. As much as you can hate Barry and bring up his use of steroids, he still performed beyond any level one could imagine during a certain period. When Schilling was commenting, he once mentioned the only player to hit 40-40 without steroids was Alex Rodriguez, he said he was a freak of nature. But I didn't s*** my pants and run to the computer to make a thread saying Schill called him a freak, because he meant it as a compliment. A strange one, but it was a compliment nonetheless. So to accuse Alex of automatically insulting Ortiz, especially since the last thing A-Rod wants to do is start another Red Sox confrontation, is just ridiuclous, because he was complimenting him. ...and my Yankee bias doesn't exist. I don't think A-Rod can do no wrong. I am as objective as a fan as you can find, but the Boston media has you believing A-Rod is the devil. Which he is not. When he made this quote he was trying to endear himself closer to the Sox fans by complimenting their golden buy, because there is nothing he desires more than to be liked, as all of you must have realized already.
  10. Oh, I am so sorry. I didn't realize this was actually you Mr. Rodriguez.
  11. Either way its pointless.
  12. That sums up this thread.
  13. This thread lacks any semblance of intelligence.
  14. Wow. Compliments are frowned upon I guess? Weird.
  15. How quickly you forgot Urbina's wild celebrations and Manny's stare downs with his own homeruns...
  16. Duncan isn't doing horrible. His OBP at 20 years old is outstanding, not to mention his XBH and RBI totals are very, very good. He is just 20 and he was rushed up to AA. He obviously isn't ready for AA, but the organization felt his makeup is so great he could fail in Trenton and it wouldn't effect him. Trading someone with Duncan's talent and power for a set-up man, is ridiculous, especially trading him within the division.
  17. I'll ask the question again, are you celebrating or are you trying to defend right now?
  18. Calm down. You are still the world champs but once you reach the season you become the defending champs. Are you still celebrating or playing the season in hopes of defending your title? That is the difference between defending world champs and world champs.
  19. *Defending World Champions
  20. Yankees drafted Mark Prior out of high school, but we didn't offer enough to sign. Now Steinbrenner has absolutely no problem shelling out cash for draft picks.
  21. 1996-2000 Yankees made trades with their prospects, but in most cases they didn't deal Jeter, Mo, etc... but they did rid themselves of guys like Russ Davis and Ricky Ledee, in order to get the players they need. Good scouting does wonders for a team.
  22. He is the real deal.
  23. Nothing wrong with him if he became Figgins. He's definetly talented enough to play all of those positions, so why no teach him 3rd, SS, 2nd, and OF, all it does is make him better and more versatile.
  24. Can the anti-Yankee bias be removed?
  25. Well I am George's antithesis as a Yankee fan. My first thing would be shop Sheffield. See what you could get for him, preferably searching for starters. He is a great hitter who doesn't make a great hitters salary. He is a cancer to the team with his mouth and is selfish and is an anti-Yankee. If you could pull Burnett or Schmidt in a three-team swap while giving up Sheffield, you have to pull the trigger. This obviously leaves a huge hole in right-field, but I would be very willing to give up talent such as Melky Cabrera, Edwardo Sierra, Scott Proctor, etc... to acquire a stop-gap rightfielder. The resurgence of Jason's bat makes him expendable I would obviously invest more money in the scouting department, international and internal. Let this year play out without Sheff and with the pitcher. If the pitcher plays up to some sort of quality, sign them, three years the max length. Avoid trading Duncan (first base in a few years), Cano, Cox, Hughes, Carl Henry, and a few other assorted recent draftees and 19-20 year olds. A system rebuilding process must be completed. Resign Matsui at all costs. Trade Posada at all costs and then sign Ramon Hernandez. If we sign Ramon Hernandez that leaves an obvious hole on the San Diego Padres roster, as far as the catcher position goes. Trade him there perhaps, while picking up most of his contract. Here is a strange move I have thought over time and time again. Move Derek Jeter to centerfield and put A-Rod back at shortstop. Although this is very sketchy and still leave a big hole, I think Jeter is more of a centerfielder than a shortstop and A-Rod is the best fielding shortstop in baseball next to Vizquel. This puts Alex back at short. Now, with the Padres so very down on Sean Burroughs, perhaps maybe he would be swapped for Posada. Maybe he would flash more power with the short-porch in Yankee Stadium and perhaps the gap in death valley would help him push his average up ...I'm not done, I'll update it later.
