    I always liked Wily Mo Pena. And I see John Burkett mentioned. Forgot about him. I remember thinking the first time I saw him pitch "who the hell is this 50 year old guy trying to play baseball"

    I'm not talking about what the 2004 world series meant. I'm talking about the competition involved. It's remembered because we won, yes, but when it comes down to the actual games remembered that ALCS will be remembered for it's competition over the WS which was pretty much a boring 4 game sweep.

    I doubt anyone, red sox fan or not, cares more about those 4 world series games against the cardinals than they did about that ALCS. Same can probably said for 2005 and the NLCS. Hell, I don't even remember the 2007 world series, only the ALCS, and for a time forgot we even played the Rockies. The freakin Rockies. The world series may have been it 25 years ago and before, but the postseason has expanded and had way better series than the actual world series.

    Since there are some threads involving favorite moments and favorite pitchers and stuff how about one where you post your most disliked players. When I first started watching in 2003 it was Johnny Damon. But I didn't know much at the time and he was in a pretty bad slump for a time. 2004 changed that opinion. Julio Lugo, J.D Drew, Alan Embree, Byung whateverthehellitwas Kim, Wade Miller and i'm sure a bunch of other relievers.

    2003 world series, The Sosa/Mcguire home run race, Bonds setting the home run record, all the no hitters/perfect games last year. Yes I know 2 of those have to do with steriods, but save the bitching for someone who cares because I still found it enjoyable.

    That 2004 game where V-Tek fights A-Rod and Mueller hits the walkoff. I lost my s*** that day. From that day on I knew the Red Sox would win the world series that year. Seriously that was an amazing game. I want to see it again.

    Wow I see everyone getting real defensive over this, but really, think about it. What would he do with Tampa Bay level money? He's drafted good players, but take away that and you got someone making moves anyone with a large amount of money could make.

    There should be some sort of way that you can sign a player and have it so he is considered to be on the team but he only plays when necessary. Like, at times he won't be on the Roster, but not in AAA, and when a player gets injured or something like that they can just call him up and he'll come pitch. He'd get paid by appearances, and by the type of appearance.
