Instead of talking about Matheny, D Miller (Oakland's catcher) is a free agent, I would rather sign him than Matheny. He hit .290+ with decent power and I believe he has decent defense and play-calling skills. He won it with AZ so he has experience also.

I agree with yankeesin05, we should probably sign a cheap catcher that is mostly similar to tek's game-calling and defense and get our offense from other places. If anything I would just change the length and trade clause because Posada makes 12mill (I think) and 10 mill is reasonable considering that in my opinion Tek is better. At the most we should sign him to a 3yr deal with a 4th yr option, I dont think he'd do less than that.

John- The Sox are repotedly offering 24 mill for 3yrs and he wants 10 mill for 5. I'd say 9mill for 3 yrs is a good compromise , but I agree that he is declining. Also, we only need three more years out of him (that's all he probably has left) until Shopp is ready, by that time tek will have dropped out of the elite squad of catchers and we will let him go then. I understand that S Will was lights out in 03 but only played in 20+ games in '04, he has already had TJ surgery and now will have surgery again, its just too risky to sign him. CPav only made 3-4 mill last year but your probably right only cuz other teams will raise the bidding from 5/6 to the 7/8 range. Same w/ OCab but mor likely in the 8/9 range.

Even worse is that there are rumors that the yanks are trading posada and others to AZ for Johnson and signing Tek. :thumbdown:

That is a horrible trade, though Floyd is 31 he has had some injury plagued seasons lately while Manny has played every game he has not being benched by the manager(Grady) or sick. Also even if Floyd was healthy Manny is by far a superior player all-around.
