  1. I'm glad to see that you have your who-is info kept private. The kind of people who are this industrious in flooding a message board with their posts like that are the exact kind of people who are likely to pose an actual threat in the real world. The body follows the mind; a stalker who thinks is a stalker who walks. If these jerks applied just half of that time and effort to productive enterprises, they'd all be rich (like me! hehe)
  2. Well I wouldn't have had high hopes with Wells anyway. We know how good he can be, so he was certainly worth signing, but on the other hand, at this point in his life we certainly can't bank on him either. He hasn't exactly been a benchmark of consistency in recent years. I hope they have a back up plan whether they'll need it or not.
  3. There's much to be said for good sportsmanship and all that, but pro sports is show business and that's that. The drama and antics that come with animosity and static between teams and players can only add to the bottom line. Ask Vince McMahon. He knows how to cultivate repeat customers. As a fan, I enjoy the spontaneous theatrics. The gesture that Manny made toward Miguel Cairo, and Cairo's facial expression upon learning that he had not cleared the fence, after his triumphant run around the bases, was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Even funnier than anything I've seen on pro wrestling, and we know how over-the-top they go sometimes. And Varitek's pimp slap to Rodriguez? Great theatre. A game winning home run makes for a good day. A pimp slap to one of the game's biggest stars of all time creates a buzz that may last for years.
  4. "But Jeter looks like he wants to Cowboy Up on him" Yeah. Alex has been cold and distant lately.
  5. This is certainly the first time I've ever seen anything that is sports-related referred to as "trippy". I must be getting old.
  6. Just to clarify - winner may choose ANY ITEM on the http://www.cafepress.com/yankthis site EXCEPT the "100 pack" of buttons or magnets. If you prefer a hat or a mug, or whatever, instead of a shirt, it's your choice. Or any of the same items with "Shut Up New York" caption as Yeszir metioned above.

  8. The surgical procedure that Curt had is hardly any more invasive than a simple dental procedure, and he'd most likely be stronger rather than weaker after a bit of exercise to get back in shape.
  9. I'd agree that he's doing this thing to make a quick buck. But if I wanted to know who shoots up and who doesn't, he's the first guy I'd ask. And of the bunch who are currently speaking in public on the issue, he is the first one I'd believe. He seems to be the only one who is willing to say that somebody other than Jose Canseco did it as well.
  10. Some of us appreciate irreverent humor. It's not as if there is any ill will being rendered here.
  11. I think a referral drive like you've done in the past is a great idea as it has the potential to benefit the board by increasing membership.
  12. Maybe I'm fried today or maybe I'm just stupid and lazy, but am unable to find a source for the Curt Schiling "Shut Up" spiel. Does anybody here have a link to a news article where he was quoted? I need to get the authentic letter-for-letter, word-for-word. THanks
  13. hahahaha give it to Mo.
  14. "a home town discount" What's his home town? hehe
  15. Here he's just "one of the guys". In just about any other town he'd be recognized as the superstar that he has always been.
  16. "He won't do that. If he does, he'll be suspended." So?
  17. Depends on who's pitching. If it happens to be Arroyo, he'll get a 10-minute S.O. and perhaps a full-scale riot after he smears Alex Rodriguez' mascara with his first pitch to him.
  18. I've been a Manny fan since before he ever set foot in Cleveland, but Curt gets two tons of brownie points for the "shut up" thing, and Bronson Arroyo is sure to endear himself to all of us when he knocks Alex Rodriguez on his pansy ass.
  19. It makes some sense that a trophy or ring would have some sentimental value. The ball? It's worth about 6 bucks to anybody who needs one.
  20. It's just a ball for crying out loud; it has absolutely no value and serves no socially redeeming purpose, yet these knuckleheads act like they've found the Holy Grail/Fountain of Youth/Cure for Cancer. One more dead branch on the tree of evolution I guess.
  21. "Bronson Arroy: $1,950,000 for one year" They should say they offered him that much for each pitch that doesn't miss Alex Rodriguez, and churn it for publicity. Sorry, I'm a tad bit anti-social sometimes.
  22. A classic in the making, indeed. But for my money, Bronson Arroyo's next start against the Yankees is the hottest ticket in town.
  23. Who the hek is Lester?
  24. Hey a lot of guys are in baseball because they want to play. The money's good, yes, but once you've got as much as you'll ever need (would imagine that an MLB player's minimum wage covers that for most guys) the desire to play becomes a primary factor in these decisions. Good for him. Can't say I wouldn't do the same thing under the circumstances.
