Well, thanks for clarifying your stance. In my view, it's unclear in the post that is being referenced. As for not defending someone on a forum, we discuss these player's actions ad nauseam, often taking sides. A-Rod said a couple dumb things during his post game interview following the incident, but other than that, I don't believe he was in the wrong.

I agree, A-Rod said some things that he probably shouldn't have said, but all he did was respond that day. After that he dropped it (because it really is a non-issue), and it's only Braden that's keeping it alive. As for what Jeter said, sure, it was said differently, but he still came to A-Rod's defense (something you claim people shouldn't do).

Reporters asked him about it the day of the incident. He responded by saying, in so many words, that he thought he did nothing wrong. Aside from a wise crack about Braden's lack of success (which was stupid, but hardly noteworthy), A-Rod did absolutely nothing wrong. He was very dismissive of the whole issue, which is how I hoped he would respond. As for learning from Jeter, he did the very thing that you're denouncing - he came to A-Rod's defense.

To the best of my knowledge, A-Rod hasn't spoken on the issue since the day of (or maybe the day after) the incident. It's Braden who won't let this die.

It all depends on Pettitte's elbow. Considering the state of the bullpen (Robertson's ineffectiveness and Park's injury), I think they'd be very reluctant to put Aceves into the starting rotation. So, on the MLB team right now, all they have is Mitre. As for guys coming up from the minors, to the best of my knowledge, they're pretty thin when it comes to high level pitching. The best options would probably be someone like Hirsch or Mosley. With Pettitte's start almost certainly being pushed back, they're probably going to slot Mitre into Tuesday's start, and unless Pettitte's injury is serious, Mitre will probably start in his place until Pettitte is good to go. Once Pettitte is healthy, if Vazquez can't go, I'd suspect Mitre would then take his place. However, if both Pettitte and Vazquez can't go, I'd imagine they'd be tempted to go outside the organization for help.

Anything is possible, but even if he is overwhelmed by the pressure, I don't think he is this bad. Even in 2004 he was so much better than this. More than anything, his decreased velocity tells me that something is probably off, and, by everything i've heard and read, my guess would be that it's a mechanical issue.

He's had a history of elbow problems, dating all the way back to the very beginning of his career. Sometimes it's a major thing, but more often than not, as Pettitte has talked about, it's just normal pain that he needs to pitch through. I don't think it has anything to do with his age.

Regardless, we have no way to prove causation, and I think it's highly unlikely that one extra inning a couple weeks ago is the reason for a little bit of elbow stiffness.

Just an absolutely awful job by Logan. He has no place on this team, because of his awful command. Now, with the way Wigginton is swinging the bat, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he beats the Yankees here. It's one thing to hold Mo after he pitched a good BP when you have Joba available, but without him out there, the risk is too great.

Actually, interesting point by someone on the River Avenue Blue's live chat. It's possible that they're using this as an opportunity to stretch out Mitre, in case he is moved into the starting rotation. Either way, I'm very curious to see what Joe has to say about this.

Ugh, Andy out after only 77 pitches. Now, maybe they're just not looking to extend him further, but this certainly seems curious.
