  1. I dont know if this was posted yet. The Sox are also closing in on a deal for Julio Lugo, according to sources with other teams. The holdup there is getting an answer on whether Lugo would move to 2B. The backup option for the Red Sox is Dustin Pedroia, not Ron Belliard. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=5361
  2. What would you do though? This guy is MLB ready. Trade Cano? Or move one to the OF for a little while to see how that works out. It's been said that Gourriel can play either corner OF position If this guy signs with the Yanks and is as good as advertised it would likely mean Cano is gone.
  3. M. Smith could be really good, and CJ Henrycould be a good player but he is a SS and is stuck behind Jeter I dont think the deal improves the Yanks all that much Lidle sucks and Abreu is nothing more than avg at this point. The short porch in Right might help him though
  4. we knew he would be good this year, and probably next, but after that we had no idea.
  5. Yeah, I got mine today also. Thanks SFOC, they look great and I can't wait to wear it. Thanks Again.
  6. A scout who attended the first round of the WBC in Puerto Rico offered this assessment of Cuban 2B Yuliesky Gourriel, 21: "He has the tools and skills to become an All-Star-caliber player. He is far and away the best young guy here. He is playing second but has enough arm for third and short. Has good body life, lots of instincts and a feel for the game." The same scout says of watching the Cubans, "It is like going to a candy store, but you can't buy or touch." . .
  7. no on mlb.com he said he would be coming back next year.
  8. With conflicting reports bouncing around on whether Bruins top draft pick Phil Kessel wants to return to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore year or turn pro now, family adviser, Wade Arnott, said Friday the issue simply has not yet been decided. "They are still preliminary, but there are ongoing discussions with the Bruins," Arnott said. Kessel would like to sign immediately if the conditions are right, according to Arnott, meaning both the salary and bonuses - and the opportunity to get quality playing time in the NHL Boston Herald
  9. schweeet, im going there for vacation for 2 weeks next month, cant wait.
  10. did you see that catch coco made?
  11. :what: btw, you spelled oppurtunity wrong
  12. wont happen, i never thought i would say this about an all star playing for the yankees, but: cashman, DO NOT trade arod
  13. Not a bad move Wickman wouldnt have been on the team next year anyway at his age most likely. Plus this just doesnt look to be the Guardians year Guardians can still compete next year Marte will be the starting 3rd basmen which will add more power to the line up and if they need a closer Gagne and Baez will both be available via FA'cy
  14. Here's the specs of the deal from Rotoworld: Red Sox agreed to terms with RHP Josh Beckett on a three-year, $30 million contract extension with a club option for 2010. Beckett, who had been eligible for free agency after 2007, gets a $2 million signing bonus, $6 million in 2007, $9.5 million in 2008 and $10.5 million in 2009. The club option is worth $12 million and becomes guaranteed if Beckett makes 28 starts in 2009 or he has a total of 56 starts in 2008 and 2009. Otherwise, the Red Sox can exercise a $2 million buyout. While Beckett remains a major health risk going forward, we like this one for the Red Sox. They weren't going to be able to find a similarly talented pitcher willing to take such a short deal if Beckett left as a free agent.
  15. idk, harris can run.....All the way to AAA
  16. My mom and girlfriend don't like Lance either, because he divorced his wife who helped him and took care of him while he had cancer and was recovering from it. So, who knows?
  17. Becketts comments after the game: "I always wanted to stay here in front of these fans, in this stadium," said Beckett after the game. "It's a good deal I've liked the trade for Beckett since the day it happened (who didn't?). Sure, there have been some bumps this season and he's prone to giving up the long ball, but I feel he's a very good young pitcher who hasn't reached his peak yet. Hopefully he pitches the rest of this season and the rest of his Red Sox career the way he pitched today, and will learn to "pitch."
  18. yankees lose 3-2...1.5 game lead
  19. I've seen all of them. Love these inspirational and courageous storiess
  20. Beckett gets new deal By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff Terry Francona announced that Josh Beckett agreed to a three-year deal with the Red Sox. More details to follow.
