  1. Shoppach, Hansen, Dinardo ready to be called up. Delcarmen, Perisho, Malaska and Hanley Ramirez are under consideration... Why not just call them up...Pawtucket is not going to the playoffs...(Hanley might stay for Portland playoffs.) http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20050827_27rsoxjo.227c51f4.html Call-up plans made The Sox also had a long meeting yesterday to talk about callups on Sept. 1 -- and thereafter -- when the major league rosters are expanded beyond the current 25-man limit. In some cases, the Sox will let players remain in the minors until the minor league seasons are complete. In others, the promotions will be made immediately. "We don't want to create havoc" with affiliates, Francona said. "At the same time, we've got a responsibility" to help the parent club. Set to join the Sox Thursday are lefty Lenny DiNardo, Double A righthander Craig Hansen and Pawtucket catcher Kelly Shoppach. DiNardo, who has been both a starter and reliever in Pawtucket, will probably get a start Friday, taking the place of David Wells, who is expected to have to serve his six-game suspension. Wells still hasn't heard from MLB about his appeal earlier this week, but the Sox aren't expecting much in the way of a reduction. A handful of other minor leaguers -- including Manny Delcarmen and lefties Matt Perisho and Mark Malaska are under consideration, as is Portland infielder Hanley Ramirez. Also, Foulke is schedule to begin his rehab at Lowell today. Good Luck and get here fast.
  2. Lawton is capable of playing CF but hasn't done it often, would they move Matsui to CF for good and Lawton in left or right? Odd. Lawton won't exactly push them over the top either.. Not sure how much that improves their defense.
  3. mvp? he wasn't playing in that game
  4. also, We have no reliever who can be effective against lefties and righties except Timlin, who is supposed to be our closer.
  5. that's still pretty impressive, no runs so far......call him up?!!?!?!
  6. One week after the Red Sox designated Mark Bellhorn for assignment, the second baseman declined the team's invitation to report to Triple-A Pawtucket, officially ending his tenure with the team. Bellhorn will clear release waivers on Tuesday and will then be free to sign with any Major League team. After putting together a surprising 2004 season, which included some big hits in the playoffs, Bellhorn couldn't get going this season, then went on the disabled list with a left thumb injury on July 18. "He meant a lot to us. He's one of the best teammates I've ever seen," said manager Terry Francona. "At some point, you have to make decisions on what's best for your ballclub."

  13. we wont face the white sox best players, some of them might not even fly over to boston. they might call up some minor league players, because this is the last thing the white sox need, to fly to boston for a day and then fly back to chicago for a game later that day or night. this should be a sure win IMO.
