  1. Actually, I don't have to eat anything because I'm being the patient one. I always give an adjustment year. Whether he shits the bed next year too or not doesn't take away from the fact that you're s***ing on him too early. Drew's being pathetic? Take a look at his September numbers, then get back to me. Ellsbury = sex.
  2. This umpire is all over the place. Jesus Christ. EDIT: lol, and that next ball was a strike.
  3. If he breaks out in the post-season (yeah, I know it's not a lock yet, but still), you are the first person to eat crow. And if he has a good year next year, you will also eat crow. Drew vs. Pettitte is NOT a good matchup for him.
  4. lol, nice. I think we've pretty much beaten this as much as we can though. I think we can all agree that the Pats (and more specifically, Belichick) were caught cheating, and should pay the price. Goodell handled the situation correctly, and now we all just need to move on. I think we can all also agree that this didn't give the Pats as much of a competitive advantage as some people make it out to be. They got caught cheating, and they'll pay. Now move on.
  5. Way to battle. We have to jump on Pettitte early.
  6. Come on Dice-K. One more strike to get out of this!
  7. They have San Francisco's 2008 first-rounder. Even if they make the playoffs they'll still get to pick in the first round. I agree though. The punishment fits the crime. Pay the fine and move on. I do think this will die down and just won't be significant anymore. There are a lot of worse things going on. Just because other teams do it and don't get caught doesn't mean they're right and the Pats are wrong. They're all wrong.
  8. If you sweep, you make it very interesting. And with the way that the Sox have played against the Yankees recently, it's not out of the question.
  9. Yeah, the cheating sucks, but the amount of people that think the Pats won in the past because of this cheating is quite low. People think they won because their players and discipline is a lot better than others. This isn't the type of cheating that gives you a huge competitive advantage. Cheating is cheating, yeah, but it's not like the whole team was shooting needles up their asses. I happen to think that if the Pats keep on winning, this whole thing will die down. I know what you mean though. Besides, when have the Pats ever cared about what other people have thought? The only time they use what other people are saying is when they get counted out. Then they use that to their advantage. They don't let negativity in the media get them down. If anything, I think this whole episode is going to even further spark a fire in this team.
  10. I'm still waiting for the ripping you promised if we won the game (which we did on that Ortiz walkoff). Every team is flawed, people. Chill out. Thank you for bringing this up, See Red. I have a feeling that he's going to come up huge tonight. I don't know why, but this is the type of outing that could really get him going. He's known to have ice in his veins and pitch incredibly well in big situations. Sure, he's got some more pitches on his arm than in those years, but I think he'll be fine.
  11. f*** the gamethread title changing. I'm leaving it. I even changed your last title back to what it was.
  12. I bet the Eagles were doing it too.
  13. Holy s***, I make a post and the next thing I know 3 people posted within seconds of when I submitted mine. Holy s***!
  14. Agreed on all accounts. I still wonder about this though. If the Pats don't make the playoffs, they get to keep their first-rounder. However, that would give them 2 first-rounders (they have SF's pick). If they make the playoffs, they lose one of their two first-rounders. Does Goodell take away both picks? I don't think so. He should probably take away the higher of the two. When you dissect this, the Pats will most likely have a first-round pick in the '08 draft, no matter what they do this season (from missing out on the playoffs to being super bowl champs). However, the fines were heavy. Belichick got the maximum fine possible in $500,000 and the organization as a whole was fined another $250,000. Those are definitely deserved.
  15. A forfeit would be way too much. The players work too hard for a win like that to be taken away. I think this is an isolated issue to the coaching staff alone. I don't think Kraft knew, and I don't think the players knew.
  16. Totally agreed. Hit him in the wallet where it hurts. The suspension wouldn't have been too much either. I think if they suspended him though, they would have taken a bit off of the fine. Hopefully this all just goes away now. If the Pats go on to win as expected, it should become a distant memory.
  17. Magic number down to 11, bitches.
  18. So, the new report on boston.com is that the fine is all that's been given out. If the Pats make the playoffs however (which is pretty much bound to happen), they will lose a first-round pick in the 2008 draft. Interesting...the Pats have TWO first-round picks (they have San Francisco's ON TOP of the one they'll get). Does Goodell take away both? I don't think he will. It would be appropriate to take away the higher of the two though.
  19. Yeah. He went straight from Valdosta to FSU, and screwed the Phils when they drafted him in 1997. He played for the Cards in '98.
  20. That would have been the second hit of the game that he gave up. And it would have been a solo shot.
  21. I didn't say this wasn't impressive. I said nothing about it. But you played that card when it shouldn't have been played. C'mon Jacko, you know it too. A 1-hitter is impressive, yes.
