Well, Renteria could have easily won in St. Louis as well. Going into this season the Red Sox had more questions than the Cards, I believe. We were wondering how Wells and Clement would fare, and Miller when he returned healthy. Would Tek still be a solid catcher? Were Payton/Vazquez suitable replacements for Roberts? How much would the loss of Kapler affect us? The only real question that the Cards had was: How well would Eckstein cover Rent's tracks? They added Mulder to their rotation and obviously with that offense, they can make any pitcher that's pitching for them look good. I think Renteria left because he wanted a better deal on a team that had the potential of winning. Obviously, all these questions paid off for both teams, but imagine if they hadn't? Edgahhhh would have been better of in St. Louis.
