  1. I want Ortiz with 2 rings AND an MVP!!!!!!!!!! :harhar:
  2. Right now, I wish I could mention Ortiz's pick off of Suppan at 3B in the WS last year, remember that? He threw a strike to Mueller! Haha, obviously that doesn't count this year Good point Pinstripe_Pride, by the way.
  3. I love Dave Roberts, but being realistic, he's one good player on a joke of a playoff team. Haha, watch them go to the 'ship.
  4. No, the Sox would have won the East if the rest of our offense other than M-V-Papi, who was slugging it out the whole time, would have feasted on abysmal TB pitching. That's all we needed, to beat up on Tampa Bay, and Toronto, and we had the thing in the bag. It was mostly an offensive thing. We didn't need Mo to win the East. Although, I'll take him if you'll give him to us Also, there's a reason it's called the AL MVP. Defense factors into it, yes, but DH, whether you play the field or not, IS A POSITION IN THE GAME!!! If this is the NL, then A-Rod wins. But this is the AL, all positions are thought of as equal (INCLUDING DH). Papi's value in clutch situations, which is incredibly important, is much higher than that of A-Rod's. I know that defense factors into it, but in my mind, Ortiz has more aspects to him that push him over the edge of A-Rod. Of course, we all have different definitions of "value," so we will just have to wait and see who the MVP is. One thing we can all agree on though, no matter who wins the MVP, whether it be Papi or A-Rod, both players deserve the title, and it will have been well-earned.
  5. No team is finished here, the AL is still wide open. Chicago, Anaheim, Boston, and New York are great ball clubs that deserve to be respected and feared at the same time. There's a very real chance that anyone of these teams will be playing in the big party 3 weeks from now, and I won't be surprised to see anyone of these 4 teams there. This is the postseason now, totally new season, and anything can happen. It's impossible and ludicrous to say that any of these postseason teams are "done." ...Unless you are the San Diego Padres
  6. Well, we're going way too in depth to start handing out way too many awards...the award is in general, who is the most valuable? To be the most clutch hitter in baseball, definitely adds an INCREDIBLY HIGH amount of value to your team, and yourself as a player. Clutch hitting definitely plays a role IMO.
  7. Pitchers have Cy Youngs, I can't stand when they get mentioned for MVP's. Papi is the most clutch hitter in the game today, along with the numbers. DH is a position in the AL, and this is the AL MVP, so defense means nothing in this argument to me. If it was NL, then yes it would have an impact. Best clutch hitter in the MLB + outstanding numbers, better than A-Rod's or not, is the MVP to me. What it basically comes down to is: If you are in a pressure situation, and you had to choose from A-Rod or Papi to be at the plate, who do you choose? For me, it's a no-brainer. Papi is the MVP in my view.
  8. 1917 doesn't fit in with the rhythm 1918 had We'll think of something clever though, I'm sure of that.
  9. Oh yeah also! Not to mention...the schedule makers weren't too nice to us, either.
  10. Well, we did beat Pittsburgh down all those key players...I just think today was a really bad day. You could tell, our team just didn't have it. No doubt our team isn't as good as it was last year or years prior, but this team can still get it done. I still think we have a shot at the playoffs, and even at the 'bowl for that matter, but there are a lot of teams I would put ahead of us at this point and time.
  11. Ok, so I've been wondering... Our lineup is pretty much a given in terms of who will make the postseason roster...but I was wondering who from our bullpen, along with our 5 starters, do you think would make the postseason roster? What do you guys think about DiNardo? Hansen? Thoughts.....
  12. Hmmm, true. I guess I am crazy.
  13. I don't want another Red Sox/Yankees ALCS. Call me crazy, but it's getting a little boring now to see the same two teams every year. Gimme some spice! We've seen enough Yankee pennants without the Sox playing them, let's see a Sox/Halos ALCS. Would be a different twist, and who knows? Maybe a new rivalry can crop out of it?
  14. Playoffs are always weird like that. I hate how they do it. I have school and football practice. Grrr...
  15. Actually, the Cubs fans are the ones that get bombed and know nothing. And Riverside, I don't think he's only here to gloat. He congratulated us in another thread and just wants to spark conversation, and get some emotions flowing for the ALDS. No problem with that
  16. We saw who the better team was during the season, the season series in the Red Sox favor 4-3. Of course, the postseason is completely different. No doubt that this is going to be one hell of a series. And you are right, people do doubt the White Sox. At this point in the season, the AL is WIDE OPEN. I won't be the least bit surprised as to which AL team makes the world series. All are great teams which are no pushover. And also, the Red Sox were pretty bad down the stretch. Almost everyone on this board has said we were. Read some of the other threads before you assume that we don't say our team sucks at times.
  17. You do realize how that sounded incredibly like a bandwagonning Yankee fan pre-2004? Please don't do that to other teams' fans, you know how much it sucks.
  18. See, even a Yankee fan agrees with me on why people doubted the ChiSox!
  19. Hahah, we differ. IMHO, the Yankees announcers are 10x better than WGN, but that's me. The only team I think the White Sox announcers are better than are the Rangers' ones. But that's me, I KNOW I'm not the only one that strongly dislikes Hawk.
  20. He always talks about how much better than the other team the White Sox are. It's just annoying. He was saying how he would love to face the Red Sox in the playoffs because the White Sox' defense was better, their offense, their pitching, their (insert here). I mean, I have no doubt he's a good guy, I'm not saying he's an *******, but he doesn't do a very good job at commentating games for fans of the other teams. Giving credit to the other team from time to time wouldn't hurt either.
  21. On another note: I think he was received by the team pretty well. They showed him actively engaging in conversation with the other bullpen pitchers and they looked like they were having a good time laughing, so I don't think you need to worry about him
  22. I don't think he was there...some of the players just didn't go to the celebration and started packing. Stanton didn't contribute very much either, lol.
  23. I hate him because he's annoying. "PUT IT ON THE BOOOAAAARRRRRRDDD, YES!" That's annoying. He commentates the game in such a biased matter it's not even funny. And, I'm not the only one that hates him. Take a look around.
  24. While the best record in the AL is true, I don't think it was Cleveland's talent that got in the way of them beating you. I think it was more of a pressure situation, and as a result of their youth, they didn't know how to handle the pressure. No one really believed in the White Sox because they NEARLY blew a 15 game AL Central lead. That's actually pretty hard to do, but what it comes down to now, is that it's a whole different season, and the fun begins. EDIT: Just read your last post in response to mine, lol. Yeah, the truth is however, that statistically, Contreras is 2-4 with a 11.22 ERA. Contreras is a new man, you are correct, but once the Sox see a pitcher, they remember him. With respect to Contreras though, he really is the new ace of your team. His fastball is electrifying, and he's got all the extra stuff working for him. Gunna be one helluva series, good luck!!
  25. On the other hand, the "Hawk" says no one will beat the White Sox no matter how good you are!! God I wanna send that frontrunning prick home.
