  1. Yeah...the DiMaggio statement was more sarcastic than it came off to be lol, my mistake. It was Williams' award by a long shot.
  2. I love Papi but I'd have to give it to Brady. He's done a lot more with a lot less...and I know that's not Papi's fault.
  3. milb.tv - But you'd have to pay for it, lol. It's $3.95 for one game.
  4. Who the hell is Raul Casanova? Seriously. "Who the hell is Karim Garcia? Huh? Who is he? I'm Pedro f***in 'Martinez. I ain't goin' after his head." - Pedro Martinez (he said something like that)
  5. Because DiMaggio was pretty good too... yeah, Williams should have won it hands down. But I don't know how the voters viewed him back then so I have no idea if their like of him went into their decision.
  6. If there's one team that can screwed over in a trade, it's the Rangers. Keep that in mind.
  7. Yeah Drew! He's really coming into his own.
  8. Coco with the leadoff triple! Nice bunt for Cora getting it down the first base line. 1-0 Sox. CF just become an exciting position to watch over. Coco's resurgence and Ellsbury coming up.
  9. He had no offense. Before you jump on me about Lugo...I understand that right now it looks like a terrible decision. But Lugo's track record showed that he was a GREAT hitter at Fenway and overall, he would give his team offense while doing a good-enough job at SS. Obviously, the Sox couldn't have foreseen what was going to happen, but I understood their decision to go after Lugo (personally I didn't want him but I understood why they did). It never should have gotten to the point of signing A-Gon or Lugo though. They should have 1) Re-signed Cabrera...this would have been my first choice 2) Stuck with Renteria...sure he had a pretty terrible year with the glove but his offense wasn't terrible. I still believe that given another year he would have been a great piece to our team. And BoSox, I'm just as excited as you are about Lugo coming around these last two games, but he's been in a year-long slump. It's going to take four or five games of consistent baseball for it to be considered a first step. And only that....a first step. After that we have to pray he doesn't fizzle out again.
  10. I'm a stud...what can I say? Haha, Ellsbury batting 7th looks so damn weird. So does Drew hitting 4th. Luckily we're going up against a s*** pitcher so runs shouldn't be that hard to get...but you never know with this offense. Luckily, we have a very nice bench today if we need something late.
  11. HAPPY 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THREE WIFE FOULKERS! We haven't really made the presence felt, but we're not-to-be-forgotten! To see the formation of the Three Wife Foulkers, go to the July 4th gamethread from 2005. Holy s***, sorry I'm starting this so late. I didn't even realize the game was at 1. I wanted to sleep in too. Oh well, I'm up. Anyway, stellar pitching from Dice-K once again. He seems to really be coming into his own. After winning last night's game, a sweep is definitely within reach. Keep the offense going...hopefully Ortiz and Manny will get out of their funks somehow, and Lugo will continue to get some hits. Go Sox...WIN! And oh, Edwin Jackson's a joke. He was supposed to be something special, but coughed up a big one. Game Info: Date: Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 Teams: Tampa Bay Devil Rays (33-49) @ Boston Red Sox (51-31) First Pitch: 1:05pm EDT Venue: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/7241.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/4906.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tb.gif#36 Edwin Jackson (1-8, 6.88) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#49 Tim Wakefield (8-8, 4.31) Mojo of the day: The Sox got enough from their mojo to beat Kazmir last night. Let's hope Austin can inspire them again... [youtube=Austin Powers]bOGsdEsndM0 MORE AUSTIN POWERS MOJO!
  12. IM HERE. HOLD ON. I'LL GET THE GAMETHREAD UP. Damn...I slept WAY too late, lol.
  13. Not to mention that they'll make that $51.1M back quickly with the Red Sox flag that we planted in the Japanese market.
  14. Yes. A-Rod. I hope he wears a Boston uniform next year.
  15. Aight. Good thing he gave up the occassional homerun now to get it out of him. Now he can just own bitches again. Game over! Sox win! Sorry BoSox, but the schillingouttheks and Austin Powers mojos took over tonight.
  16. Matsuzaka? Because he's getting better with each start.
  17. I feel bad for WMP considering he'll never get good enough playing time on this team for him to get any better. If this is how they're going to use him, they have to move him. He just doesn't have a place on this team.
  18. You'll probably see it broken again in 6 or 7 years (maybe 5).
  19. Holy s***. What a slow gamethread. Dice is dealing tonight....great to see us finally get some runs off of Kazmir. Paps warming in the bullpen.
  20. KEEP IT GOING! I wonder how many are from members of this site. It must be way way up there.
  21. lol... link? I would look myself, but I'm too damn lazy. Sorry.
  22. I'm starting the thread tonight since BoSox34 seems to have forgotten. It's always good to have some pregame talk so I'm starting it about 40 minutes before gametime. Sorry BoSox (I claim tomorrow's gamethread if they win tonight, btw). Anyway, tonight's going to be a huge challenge going up against Scott Kazmir...the Red Sox killer. Fortunately, we have Matsuzaka going for us tonight so if we can grind Kazmir and get him out early, we might be able to squeeze out a win. It'll be ugly, enfuriating, and annoying, but if we can get this W it'll be well worth it. Go Sox...WIN! Game Info: Date: Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007 Teams: Tampa Bay Devil Rays (33-48) @ Boston Red Sox (50-31) First Pitch: 7:05pm EDT Venue: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://pics.forecaster.ca/mlb-player/3143.gifhttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://pics.forecaster.ca/mlb-player/6423.gif http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tb.gif#19 Scott Kazmir (5-4, 4.26) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#18 Daisuke Matsuzaka (9-5, 3.80) Mojo of the day: Austin Powers uses his mojo to destroy the opposition. The Sox should do the same tonight. [youtube=Austin Powers]4wBlpm0HQ2I AUSTIN POWERS MOJO!
  23. The Glen Davis pick made me happy. Whatevs. I'm gunna just sit back and enjoy the ride (hopefully I'll enjoy it). I have faith in YanksHater's analysis.
  24. I'll do it if it's still not up by 6:30.
  25. I would have rather taken my chances on catching a diamond in the rough than putting together a team that will stay together at MOST 3 years. It is what it is. It's just not what I would have done. Ainge now has to go for Garnett and put together a team that has a legitimate chance to go very far and compete with the West, or the trade's a failure no matter what.
