  1. Ted just refuses to give Lugo any praise whatsoever. He just dislikes him because he's not a "good" baseball player. His dislike gets in the way of him rooting for his own players. Ted would probably have a hard time rooting for A-Rod if he wore a Boston uniform next year.
  2. I have a stacked OF and I'm willing to move any one or two (depending on the offer...but not Holliday and Sizemore together) for a top-tier starting pitcher. Send me an offer if interested.
  3. And the Yankees will be the first team to be worse off without him. Seriously. That lineup is f***ing ridiculous.
  4. The bat and the starter are both high-priority. I would say the bat a little bit more than the starter (considering that this lineup can go into NASTY, NASTY slumps every now and then), but the need for a starter is pretty high as well. We're an injury away from cycling the Jason Johnson's of the world through the back end of our rotation.
  5. Good. It would be foolish to not AT LEAST inquire. The fact that Lucchino wants to make a strong push is promising. Haha, how amazing would it be if we landed A-Rod? Who would have thought that we could have A-Rod on the same team as Manny despite those trade rumors back in 2003?
  6. Actually...if Schill comes back as the shitbag he was when he left, I'd rather have Gabbard in the rotation.
  7. Not to mention the fact that Ichiro's new deal is going to inflate contracts. That's not to say that he's not worth it, but I can easily see A-Rod getting in the neighborhood of $28M-$30M/yr. ORS, I see what you're saying, but the Sox went on an abnormal spending spree this past off-season. I was glad to see it. If they have the financial muscles to flex (like they do), I think they should. Hopefully they've seen that their prior philosophy wasn't working and they start putting the best possible team on the field. If they have to do it by spending, so be it. Of course, that's my philosophy...it doesn't mean the Sox will think that way. EDIT: I just noticed that this response sounded a bit like you don't want A-Rod or don't think they should sign him. My apologies if you take it that way.
  8. Good win last night. Everyone pretty much contributed in some way and we worked our way to the win. This is the team that I remember watching at the start of the year. Go Sox...WIN. That is all. And oh, Jesse Litsch looks like a f***ing fruit cake in his thumbnail redsox.com picture. Look: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/446209.jpg Game Info: Date: Sunday, July 15th, 2007 Teams: Toronto Blue Jays (44-46) @ Boston Red Sox (55-35) First Pitch: 2:05pm EDT Venue: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://media.scout.com/media/image/41/412993.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/6403.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tor.gif#51 Jesse Litsch (1-3, 4.74) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#19 Josh Beckett (12-2, 3.44) Mojo of the day: Yep...more CAPS LOCK mojo. http://www.core77.com/blog/images/no-caps.jpg MORE CAPS LOCK MOJO!
  9. If I'm the FO, the priority lies in getting another bat, and then another starter. The bullpen recently has actually been pretty lights out. I would tryout Craig Breslow and Bryan Corey (both having great years at AAA) before trading for another arm. But I do agree that the bullpen must be strengthened (just not as badly as the lineup and rotation need to). I can't think of any other names at the top of my head really that are available. I doubt SD trades Linebrink, but if the Sox acquire another bat maybe they can trade Lowell to SD for Linebrink? That's a rough idea obviously and there would most likely be more pieces, but God knows that SD needs a producing bat in that lineup to give it some life.
  10. For real. I know I'm never comfortable with a huge lead until we've hit the magic number, but when you have as big of a lead as the Sox have had all year, you can afford certain things. The team was winning despite Lugo's struggles...and thanks to the lead they built up, we could afford to let him keep at it and try to break out. He's really looking like a much different hitter than earlier in the year. Luckily, like you said, it got to the point where it just couldn't have been any worse and it's about time. Hopefully he can win back the crowd with a great second half...I'm sure he knows that everyone's pulling for him.
  11. I'm pretty sick of the "take it easy, we're 10 games up" motto. I don't give a s*** if we're 2, 10, or 25 games up. When the Yankees are behind you, you bury them. Even if you're the best team in baseball, you have to find a way to better your team. I'm not taking it easy until we're 11 up with 10 to go. Tavarez as a starter has to come to an end. Like ORS said, I'm concerned that management is going to let this experiment go through one-too-many bumps before they pull the plug on it because of its success early on.
  12. I would love A-Rod here. I've been an advocate of it for quite some time now. I'm sick of all this "I don't want A-Rod here" crap from fans that hate him so much because of his Yankee days. I really don't give a s***. Someone like A-Rod can easily put your team over the top. I think the Sox definitely have to go hard after A-Rod (because I feel as though he's going to opt out, and if he does, it's ONLY because he wants out of NY...there's no other possible reason considering the Yanks are probably the only team willing to pay that much for him). If we signed A-Rod I would probably do nothing but smile for a week. Now here's the question: Do you sign him to play 3B or SS? Now I'm going out on a limb here as well. Actually, way far out on a limb, but if the Sox were able to sign A-Rod to play SS, and trade for Miguel Cabrera at 3B, I would probably never complain about Theo Epstein ever again.
  13. Finally! Someone who both seems to be and SOUNDS (through typing) smart. Welcome to the board. I'm sure you'll like it here. I watched that Mississippi State game against Clemson (I think) and it was INTENSE. I've never seen fans have reactions like that to every single pitch. Very passionate fanbase there.
  14. ... what the hell? Has he been hitting recently or not? The answer is yes.
  15. And Lugo hasn't been hitting recently?
  16. Using Okajima in this game is incredibly stupid. He already has a lot of innings on his arm...which we need to be strong for the remainder of the saeson.
  17. LOL @ what DO and Remy are talking about with the chest hair and the tight black leather pants! I can't stop laughing when I hear them start to crack up. Way to come back and K the hottest hitter this series on the Jays, MDC!
  18. Oh boy. I hope Manny D isn't shaken up too badly...
  19. Brady knocking chicks up is a bad thing? He has girlfriends...like normal people. Sure, he probably should have been a bit more careful when he knocked Bridget up, but whatever. By the definition of this tournament, Brady is more "now". And yes, this tourney is f***in weird.
  20. Papi with the ground-rule double! 3-0!!
