  1. I heard on WEEI that this trade has been finalized and Garnett may be in town later today. He also signed a 3-year extension after his current contract expires, so the Celtics are guaranteed 5 years of Garnett. Sox, Pats, and C's could all be championship-bound this season.
  2. MDC + Breslow in the same bullpen > Gagne.
  3. Well, we're now favorites in the East. That's cool.
  4. Haha. He'll be a good addition for you with Holliday. He gets K's and plays on a good team so he'll get you the W's also. He's also just a good pitcher, lol. I wouldn't look at it as anymore than one of those rare abysmal starts that every pitcher has. Luckily for you though, the implosion didn't happen on your team.
  5. He may be as highly regarded as Bowden at this point.
  6. Just heard on ESPN via Jackie McMullan that the Celtics and T-Wolves have resumed talks about a possible trade involving Kevin Garnett. As it stands now, the Celtics would trade Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff for Kevin Garnett. It seems as though Ainge has suddenly shifted into a win-now mentality.
  7. Christ. This has happened to me 9823459823453 times. I take a big lead that could lift me into a playoff spot into the final day of the week, and the opposing team makes up enough ground to screw me out of climbing the ranks. I was winning 10-2 this week and I wound up winning 6-4 instead. Big difference. Bonderman absolutely killed me this week. Thanks, asshat. Thankfully you'll be off my team tomorrow.
  8. Fair enough. I guess I don't exactly know what's expected of him addressing the Youk-Lugo comparison, but I guess a response other than "my posting here is a service" is what's being looked for...whatever that may be. Overall, you're right. Who cares? Let him post his thoughts. Some we'll agree with, some we won't, and if you really don't like him to an extent, just ignore him. Ah, peace.
  9. No, example, I'm not sure that's what Rob's trying to getting at. Because scaffolds is a scout, he finds that his posting on this board is a service that we should appreciate. If someone calls him on a statement that he makes, he goes off on the person, and thus giving us the sentiment that he has a "holier than thou" sentiment because of his scout experience. I think what made people frustrated with scaffolds is when he said that Youkilis has been just as valuable to us as Lugo has throughout the first half of the season. This isn't a matter of opinion, it's just flat out wrong. Consequently, people assumed that scaffolds was trying to justify his opinion of Youkilis as a bench player by showing his similarities to Lugo and concluding that they were both just as effective as the other for us during the first half. Like I said, he can have his opinion of Youkilis, but when we call him on making a false statement (like the Youk-Lugo comparison example), it's expected that he'll address it instead of telling us that it's a service that he posts here and we should listen to him instead of questioning him. Now, all that said, personally I like scaffolds and I think he brings interesting topics to the table. What I typed above was not my personal view on scaffolds, but rather what I've taken as RobZombie's beef with scaffolds to be.
  10. Whatev. Kazmir was tough on us and we've been playing really well lately anyway. Can't win 'em all against Tampa Bay. Get back to the Fens and take care of business against the O's. The lead is most likely going to be 8 games going into Tuesday's game. I'll take it.
  11. Alright... Doug did something right. Bring him in, Julio.
  12. Jesus Wily Mo. Maybe he really wants to stay here?
  13. Interesting to say the least. However, I wouldn't be surprised if A-Rod and the Yankees appear on one page of his book and have nothing to do with steroids.
  14. Thank God. Matsuzaka loves to get into a jam at least once every outing.
  15. Navarro...isn't he the guy who had the ball bounce in the dirt and crush his trachea earlier this season or something? It was the weirdest thing.
  16. Sigh. Hit him. Come on Daisuke sit this lack of talent down.
  17. Siddown Delmon. This is a bit late, but Mirabelli has GOT to go after this season.
  18. Haha, I read that same line and closed the window. I lost interest in reading the rest.
  19. Nope. But he should do it. This team was clicking without him anyway, and I have faith that they still can (especially if they land Dye). If he truly is having surgery on the knee on Wednesday, then I would guess a deal for Dye is imminent. Let Ortiz have the surgery and come back with a 100% repaired knee for the last weeks of September and the post-season.
  20. Alrighty. I had to make this now because I know for a fact I will not have access to a computer before 1:40 tomorrow afternoon, and I must keep the "schillingouttheks" mojo rolling along. Today, we're going for the second sweep in two chances of the Devil Rays this season. It'll be tough facing Kazmir, but I like our starter as well, and if we can get to Kazmir early like last time and work into the bullpen, the sweep should be complete when all is said and done. The Sox are now a season-high 24 games above .500 and pushed the Yankees back to 9 games with their loss to Baltimore (in which Damon single-handedly f***ed up their rally with a DP ball, heh). Keep the train rolling, take care of business, and enjoy the day off on Monday. The Orioles come into town on Tuesday with another great pitching matchup: Josh Beckett vs. Erik Bedard. One game at a time. Go Sox...WIN!
