    That's exactly what I was thinking Bueno...I knew they had a rook waiting in the wings, just didn't remember his name. I honestly didn't think they'd be able to move him, but apparently they're giving the Mets $4M too, which helps.

    WOW...I genuinely can't believe the Mets took on Hidalgo's exorbitant contract!!! I had heard that they might have been in the running for the Carlos Beltran sweepstakes, but this takes them out of it until the end of the season. Weathers should help out in the 'stros bullpen...who will replace Hidalgo in right? or had he been on the bench anyway?

    all we need to do is make it through 5...it appears to be raining in Denver, according to dopplar, but game is still going on per MLB Gameday. Bottom 3, still 2-0 Sox...

    Even though he got a no-decision in his last start, Lowe pitched a great game. If Manny didn't drop that pop fly, it would have been game-over and Foulke would've capped Lowe's 8 inning shutout of the Dodgers, who aren't a bunch of slouches. Like Petey, Lowe just needed some mechanics worked out and Dave Wallace did a nice job of taking care of him. Lowe will be fine tonight...it is really up to the RED SOX OFFENSE!!

    Keep in mind that Nomar's anger is directed at the 'few' rather than the 'many.' Everyone on this board knows how great Nomar has been for Boston. I went to two games during the Sox-Dodgers series and the fans went just as crazy for Nomar as they always have. Thus, it is not the fans he is angry at, but rather a few of the low-lifes in the Boston sports media. Personally, I can't blame the man for being upset. Trot spent plenty of time in extended spring training, A, and AAA ball. Nomar got, what, like 4 games at AAA? I give him credit for coming back so early, even though his presence may be disrupting team chemistry (especially with yesterday's media outburst).

    Agreed...it can be expected that one of the AL's most dominant pitchers over the last decade would experience some immediate success when they switch leagues for the first time. I know he won't win the Cy this year; my point was that he could be the best player in baseball and I wouldn't like him.

    I was on the phone with my gf last night when Trot hit his solo shot last night and I just went nuts...I think I scared her! Needless to say, I'm a HUUUUGE Trot Nixon fan, though Ortiz (aka 'tizzle, Papi, shrek) is a close 2nd. I used to be all about Pedro, too, but after his contract comments earlier this season, I've reconsidered all of the nice things I've ever said about him. He did apologize for his comments the other day, though, and I have a feeling that he's going to get HOT this summer. WATCH OUT! Lastly, I go to DePaul University out it Chicago.

    All I know is that the Sox have not looked sharp in terms of consistently knocking in runs. We usually turn to Schill for a "pick me up" game, but even he couldn't save us last night. I'm not counting on Lowe or Wakefield to do anything...this team needs another dominant performance from Petey. By the way, what a horrible at-bat for McCarty last night. Ball 3 should have been Strike 3...what a horrible call by the umps. Even after that GIFT, with the go-ahead run on 2nd, he hits a weak pop-up to right. Disappointing.

    Like you said, I'd take Pedro on 1999-2000 alone...however, I'm extremely biased AGAINST the Rocket thanks to Bill Simmons' "Roger Clemens is the Anti-Christ" column. I can't stand even looking at Clemens...I don't care if he goes on the win the NL Cy Young this year. He's despicable.

    Hey everyone...just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Rick and I'm from MA but go to school in Chicago...I've been a Sox fan for as long as I can remember, but enjoy watching all baseball (except the Yankees). Look forward to posting...
