  1. I read that it went for under what it was expected to fetch...between $85k-125k. Glad that UpperDeck won't be cutting it up and putting pieces of it on some stupid cards.
  2. Nice to get back in the win column along with a yankees loss last night. Let's hope Derek Lowe has his head on straight today and doesn't lose his cool because of a bad call or a rough inning. We need to get some momemtum built up for the rest of June.
  3. I think we sign Varitek and possibly Nomar. Tek will be back because the ownership loves the guy, he works hard, is a good leader, and he works well with all of our pitchers (except Wakefield). I am shaky on the signing of Nomar as we are well aware that there are some decent free agents out there like Renteria which would then allow us to move some cash around to bring in additional players. I just don't think Nomar will want to return to Boston as much as there is talk that he loves Boston. Pedro has not shown he is worth $17.5M and we can obviously shop around though it would be terrible to see him go somewhere else and return to the Pedro of 1999. Lowe has pretty much sealed his fate that he will not return. There are plenty of young pitchers out there who have more promising careers ahead of them, then for us to waste money on Lowe.
  4. Would be nice to go out with a Cy Young, but Roger wants another ring. He can play another season or two with the arrangement he has in Houston.
  5. I definitely think the month of June will be the test though it has started rather sh*tty. We need to play strong in interleague play for a change, and carry that through the second half of June where MIN and NYY await. Pretty rough schedule by the looks of it.
  6. That's interesting. I have not seen anything, nor can find anything regarding the news about a wrist injury. I did see a Globe article where Pedro has been reviewing tape of his pitching and discovered what he thinks may be a flaw in his delivery and mechanics.
  7. Unless Clemens faulters I think they can start polishing the Cy Young trophy and etch his name on there for 2004. What a start out of the Rocket!!!
  8. I passed up on Prior (kicking myself now). But landed Pedro, Kevin Brown, Penny, Hudson, and Wood...so I can't complain. Glad that Prior is back. Should be interesting to see the Cubbies battle the Astros, Cardinals, and Reds in the NL Central as they have hung close thus far without their ace. Should be a great second half.
  9. Looks very interesting. I had envisioned some upperdeck style seating to be added to centerfield myself though I am not sure the cramped space could support many additional seats. Fenway definitely needs to add a level or two to get another few thousand seats at least. But hell, you could put a seat at the top of the flag pole and Red Sox fans would pay big bucks to get into the games. I would pay to sit inside the wall and watch through one of the small slots where they put the numbers up on the scoreboard, lol.
  10. Vlad is an absolute beast, a work horse. I really enjoy watching him play. Drives in a ton of runs, and hits for power and average (.325 lifetime hitter). He has a ton of speed as well though a lot more focus has been on his hitting. Remember a few years back he missed the 40/40 club by one homerun, though his stolen base totals have dropped off the past few years. He will be around for a long time. And yeah, I wish he were in Boston...
  11. Hell yeah, we own the D-Rays. Glad to see them beat the Yankees a few times..let's hope that continues. Too bad the Angels are banged up more and playing the Yankees, though I liked that late game heroics last night. Back up a half game baby!!
  12. Bangor Daily News reported this morning that a 4pm press conference was scheduled at Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Seadogs where an announcement will be made. With Theo Epstein in attendance all signs are pointing to this being Nomar's rehab assignment. At the conference I would assume they will announce about how long they expect him to be there. Wonderful opportunity to get a closer look at Nomar in a great atmosphere...
  13. Clemens, even though I may take some shots for this one. He was unreal. And still is in my mind. One more Cy Young on the way.
  14. and let's hope that Anaheim doesn't self destruct against the Yankees tonight.
  15. right, don't even bother sending Kim to the bullpen or the minors, get his $*#$& out of here please. let's package some players up and get a solid lefty starter.
  16. You are correct...don't want to jinx anything. I would love to see Roger add some more hardware and rub it in the Yankees faces. Too bad the AL East doesn't play the NL Central.
  17. I don't think Sabathia is that good to be honest. If we're shopping for a lefty let's go for Zito or Mulder. I know Tim Hudson is a free agent at the end of the year...maybe we will show interest there once the Yankees do
  18. Yeah, wouldn't mind him getting a well-needed day off...as long as we pull out a win here.
  19. Great to see Clemens doing so well and picking up the Astros a lot. He's a class act though he played for the Yankees I can forgive him though I am sure I will take some crap for that comment. Add another Cy Young...and hopefully an NLCS ring.
  20. Manny based on his consistent batting, his leadership, and ability to maintain focus with the constant media attention (something that seems to bother Pedro and rattle him from time to time).
  21. funny, on the WEEI radio broadcast they are saying how if the game goes at the current rate, Manny may be back in time to get an at-bat...haha.
  22. Ah it's okay, let the Yankees play an extra game...maybe it will wear them out a bit.
  23. Just don't waste any of that beer, eh.
