You sound like a guy who is ignorant to change and the coming of a new fighting sport.
These MMA guys are also trained (kick)boxers. Guys like Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, Georges St. Pierre, BJ Penn, Kenny Florian, Frank Mir, Thiago Alves, etc., those guys are just a few of the many world class strikers in MMA today.
One thing many people don't know is that the beginning UFC's weren't so much "mixed martial arts" but a way to determine which martial art was best. At UFC 1, Royce Gracie (best jiu jitsu artist ever) won the tournament while being severely outweighed (30-40 pounds in each fight) and won with his submissions, beating a former boxer (Art Jimmerson), a great striker (Ken Shamrock), and another great fighter at the time (Gerard Gordeau). If (more like when) a mixed martial artist today takes a fight with a boxer to the ground, the fight would literally be over in a second.
