  1. theoretically if the sox win it doesn't matter if the yankees win or lose
  2. Ryan Sweeney, Bench (OF) Omir Santos, Bench ©
  3. If by never fighting the same way you mean become smart enough to not circle towards his right hand every single time he exits after he engages....
  4. my apologies for letting my clock run out i've been busy as hell, and haven't had a chance to do much of anything, i'll have my past due picks in tomorrow before noon
  5. His velocity has been improving since last year, and I see it as no coincidence that since the beginning of 2008, he has gradually been striking out more and more guys. In 07, I think he'd have to really reach back to hit even 95, but now he's hitting 97 with frequency.
  6. Throwing the ball harder. He's hitting 97 semi-regularly now.
  7. Alves made weight but looked smaller than usual, and couldn't even wait to get off the stage to start to rehydrate. I don't think he'll go 5 rounds with GSP and stay alive, he won't have the stamina I don't think. He's gonna need to catch him in the first 2 maybe 3 rounds.
  8. Lesnar acts like a prick, some like it, some don't. Mir acted like a bigger d-bag on TUF 8, and I really wanted Big Nog to squash him in their fight at UFC 92. He was the first guy to ever knock Minotauro out, which is unbelievable. Brock hasn't "paid his dues" in MMA yet. He'll have his chances in the future. Mir has turned the corner as a fighter, and I want to see him knock Brock's face in. The HW division is really turning around though. Lesnar, Mir, Nog, Couture, Carwin, Velasquez, dos Santos, Cro Cop is back. UFC 100 is gonna be ill
  9. Heavyweight Championship unification bout: Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir Mir has better stand-up, better BJJ, only chance Lesnar has is if he can lay on top of him and drop fists on him for 5 rounds and hope he doesn't get caught in an armbar or something Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St-Pierre vs. Thiago Alves I like GSP here, but will never rule out Alves because of his size and power. Alves is awesome but GSP's all around fighting style will rule supreme Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago Fitch will kill Thaigo. Thiago is coming off an impressive knockout, but Fitch survived a 5 round war in which he should have been KOed big time. Fitch will be back with a chip on his shoulder and win this pretty handily. Middleweight bout: Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping Henderson is a much better wrestler, and should be able to throw Bisping around, and I don't think Bisping can knock him out. Only way I can see Bisping winning is by outpointing Hendo. Middleweight bout: Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher Very intriguing fight. Akiyama can fight, and Belcher thinks he's in the title hunt. Akiyama will have some nerves, so I expect a decision, a split decision for Akiyama. Preliminary card Light Heavyweight bout: Mark Coleman vs. Stephan Bonnar Two of the older guys still around, not sure how much Coleman has left, but showed some fight against Shogun, and Bonnar just got beat badly by Bones Jones. It'll be a back and forth war, depending on how much Coleman has left in the tank, I think he can take down and GnP Bonnar. Lightweight bout: Mac Danzig vs. Jim Miller Fight of the night candidate, as the lightweights always end up being. Light Heavyweight bout: Jon Jones vs. Jake O'Brien O'Brien is coming down from HW, and Jones is on his way up the ranks. Jones is an awesome wrestler with sick judo throws. I don't think he can KO O'Brien, but he will decision him. Welterweight bout: Dong Hyun Kim vs. TJ Grant DHK is fun to watch, good judo fighter, very explosive, I don't know much about Grant though Middleweight bout: C.B. Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor CB is awesome. He comes of as a cocky mother f***er but he can fight. He's better standing, wrestling, and grappling. Lightweight bout: Matt Grice vs. Shannon Gugerty Don't know much about either guy, to be honest
  10. I wanted TT back, but the years and amount irked me. If they signed it on the assumption that he's going to be the same goalie as last year for the duration of the contract, it's fine with me providing he plays that part. If he slips and regresses, it wouldn't surprise me one bit, and it's a bad signing. I like Timmy, and don't blame him for getting that much. Instead of hating on the signing I'll sit here and hope he can play worth the value of his contract.
  11. Not sure if this is directed at me, but I'll go at it regardless. I'M ON YOUR SIDE! I don't think it's fair to expect Lucic, Krecji, and everyone else to step up. I think that not bringing back Kessel would strictly be a money move, and not fair to the rest of the team. I think we're good enough to compete at a very high level, and we've got ourselves a nice window, and I don't see saving $5 million as enough of a justification to not bring in a guy who, was one of the best goal scorers in the NHL @ 21 years, and should be one of the best for years to come.
  12. Don't bring back Kessel for what? Realistically, what can we do with the cap space that not signing Kessel creates? Kessel is improving, and if he didn't have mono last year, we're looking at a 42-45 goal scorer, and he'll improve next year too, the guy is 21. I think we can expect Lucic and Krecji to improve, Sturm will also add some goals into the mix, and I don't think it's reasonable to expect Recchi to play at the same high level he did last year, but they can't replace Kessel's production. Bottom line is we're talking about a guy who is 21 years old and scored 36 goals, I'd pay him every bit of the $5 million at this point, and as I've stated before, I think he's a one way player. He can be a perennial 45-50 goal scorer. His stock will only rise, if we can lock him up for $5 million long term, why not?
  13. Him and TA will be packaged together for something. Like I said, I'd love Foster because he's a terrific backup center who can rebound and defend with the best of them. That being said he's probably too valuable to the Pacers, although a little overpaid.
  14. Well the points before that leading up to that horrendous volley he missed by about 10 feet, he played them very loose and essentially took for granted the position he was in instead of keeping the foot on the throat. Then the volley he missed, he tightened up real bad. It was a very tough volley, and the guy has brick hands at the net, but it's a shot that you need to make if you want to play at that level. Roddick played awesome today, but by no means did he "deserve it".
  15. And Tanguay just reported that Grant Hill will sign here by the end of the week, and Big Baby is likely headed to San Antonio.
  16. Roddick loosened up and played like it was in the bag. That's his fault. He should have realized he was playing against the best player dead or alive.
  17. This should mean the end of Davis too, I think someone is going to overpay for him anyways. If Danny can now pick up Grant Hill with the LLE and Tyronn Lue/Anthony Carter/Kevin Ollie for the minimum, I'd be f***ing ecstatic. Rondo/Lue/House Allen/House/TA Paul/Hill/Walker Garnett/Wallace/Scalabrine Perkins/Wallace Another pipe dream of mine would be to add Jeff Foster for Scalabrine and TA as well.
  18. roddick should have won in 4 so naturally he lost
  19. My team drops 5.944 or something per game.
  20. He definitely ups their defense and at this point I'll take them as the favorite.
  21. 3yrs 18mil for Artest to the Lakers wow
  22. Like the deal for Recchi, but that definitely signals some sort of move that we've gotta make.
  23. I don't even think that team is top 6 in the East. It doesn't scare me in the least bit. All the top teams have the ability to expose the s*** out of Stuckey, Gordon is a drop off defensively, Villanueva has trouble guarding true 4's and their bench is probably one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen. They still have a lot of moves to make if they want to be competitive this year, and they're already around a $60 million cap figure, so they'll need to get better from the inside-out with some wheelin and dealin, which is what I expected anyways.
  24. Pistons just wrapped up Ben Gordon for 5/55. It's a lot for a shooter, but the guy can put it in the hole. Hamilton will probably get moved now.
  25. B's bringing Bitzy back. I love that.
