    I figured I'd give it a whirl, mix things up a little. Josh Beckett vs. Jarrod Washburn After Washburn allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings against the red-hot Guardians, he said he let his teammates down. It wasn't his best performance by any means, but he was facing one of the top offenses in the league. Washburn gave up back-to-back home runs in the fifth to Jhonny Peralta and Travis Hafner. He's 3-2 with a 4.44 ERA ERA in his career against Boston. Beckett struggled in the first inning in each of his two starts, only to settle down enough to have a superb outing in each game. The right-hander has given up 10 hits and two earned runs over 14 innings. This is Beckett's second career start against the Mariners.
