This would be the way to destroy the curse.
You were down 3-0. The team looked dead. Christ wasn't hitting, the pitching wasn't what it should be, and the heart and soul of Red Sox Nation was bleeding at the thought of being swept by the dreaded New York Yankees in a series most thought the Sox would win. The dopes at FOX hyped the Yankees taking the first three. I couldn't count how many times I heard "no team has ever come back from 3-0 down." It really looked over.
Then came David Ortiz.
He came through in the series past, and he kept the Sox hopes alive last night with a two-run shot in the bottom of the 12th. He really is making a case for MVP.
Mr. Ortiz lit the fuse. The Sox have come back to life.
Now what? You have Pedro going tonight, with Schilling looming in the background as a possible Game 6 starter. Mussina is due for a bad start. The Sox can take advantage of that with the ignited offense. Petey has a chance to tell the world that he can be the Pedro of 1999, and that he can dominate the Yankees. He does that, and we have a Game 6.
Take it a game at a time, and remember. You destroy history best by making some yourself.
