  1. Bellhorn proving himself with a home run. 2-0. Nice.
  2. I think that rumor is all but gone now, considering the effort some cities are making to get this franchise. I heard it as well though, that Boston would get them for the NL, because we're so passionate about baseball here. It wont happen though. I see them going to DC, despite Portland's bid. And Mexico is a joke, there won't be a big enough fan base to support the team down there I don't think. Unless it was in Mexico City.
  3. Is this a joke? He was terrible!? I see no reason to like him other than his cheerleader like mentality.
  4. Ok mr. stat head, who were the other 3? I'm sure it must be a pretty obscure list if Pokey Reese can make it.
  5. The spanks already won, 7-4
  6. What Kim needs, as JM just pointed out, is the time to get his stuff back. Throwing an 82 mph fastball is not major league pitching, I don't care who you are. Minors until its back up high eighties at least. Plus, with that submarine style delivery the ball tends to rise on hitters, making any slow fastball a meat pitch. He can get it back together though, I'm confident.
  7. What is this netsports thing I keep reading about? Anyway, glad to see you got off of the Eric Milton bandwagon, he does suck. And while I see your point about lefties, I think it is at least somewhat important to have a lefty starter. It mixes it up a little and forces the opposing manager to make roster moves, maybe put weaker hitters in to face a lefty and so on. It gives the Sox flexibility. But it isnt as big a deal as some say it is, I'll give you that.
  8. He doesnt need to go to AAA yet. Once he settles in, whenever that'll be, you'll be praising him, I guarantee it. But for the part about the bats getting rolling, I agree. We need more runs to make up for this!
  9. Hope springs eternal I see... Very sly not saying WS ring, hoping that the sox get it eh? Yea, well, so do I. But if they were to make it to the WS and play a team from the NL central, I'd rather it be the cubs personally.
  10. I'm just not sure if Kim is ready right now. I love him as a pitcher, he'll do great things, maybe eventually be a #2 guy on a team somwhere. Just right now, he isnt looking too great, not sure if its the injury or what. Playing in Boston might also not be his thing right now. He might prefer a more laid back, less die-hard type of place to get his act together and become the dominant pitcher he certainly can be. Oh, and a side question: Does anyone know of any truly great submarine style pitchers like Kim who have pitched in the past?
  11. Hate him, love him, whatever. You can't deny what this guy is doing in Houston. Look at these stats: year Team G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 2004 HOU 6 6 6 0 0 0 0 38.1 26 10 9 3 17 41 2.11 1.12 .193
  12. I dont see CC as being that great of a pitcher personally. Sure he's only what, 24 or something, but I dont see him improving so much anymore. In somewhat limited innings, he has a career 4.02 ERA and 480 K's (thats in 622 innings). Decent numbers, especially for a young guy, sure. But nothing amazing. For comparison: Kim is 25. (our Kim, our current 5th starter). In 410 innings he has a 3.27 ERA and 423 K's. Much more impressive numbers from a guy of about the same age if you ask me. I think our priority should be developing kim into a top notch pitcher, since he is absolutely capable of being one, not signing C.C Sabathia.
  13. Haha, what went on in this thread? I voted for him, hopefully he'll at least make the team as a reserve. Unless Torre goes apeshit over yankee players again, and picks his entire bench. It pisses me off when he always does that.
  14. BK's not making a great case for the 5th spot right now. Giving up 2 in the first is a great way to make Bronson Arroyo look mighty appealing.
  15. It seems to me as if the Red Sox are constantly fighting back from 1, 2, or 3 run deficits early on in the game. Even though its tied right now in the current game, we were down 2-0, and its unpleasant to score 2 runs and only see the score as being tied. I'd much prefer if our pitchers could get through the early innings, allow the offense to tack on runs, and THEN maybe give up a little once we're in the lead. It's just annoying from the other side around, ya know?
  16. Right. We really have no weakness. For a while it seemed like the offense was poor, but that changed quickly now didnt it? I'm sure some small cracks will begin to surface over the next month or two, and maybe a small trade for a bench player or a bullpen guy might happen, but nothing major. Like I doubt the sox would trade for Beltran.
  17. May is 0-4 with a 7.09 ERA, I don't think the sox should have too much trouble scoring runs off of him, especially after what we did to them yesterday. Nonetheless, it will be important to see how Lowe pitches, since he hasn't been exactly "stellar" recently. He needs to pitch if he wants to get payed.
  18. Did you hear this somewhere or was it something that you just thought of as an idea? The main problem is that he isnt a free agent, and he is relatively cheap (making 2.7 this year), even for the Guardians. He's their best pitcher, and they need to rebuild around something. I dont realistically see them giving him up, even if it means getting some of our top prospects. The Guardians will be absolutely devastating in 3-4 years, and he's signed through '06 with an option for '07, so I don't see them giving him up. He is a great pitcher, no doubt about it, and will only continue to improve.
  19. This is true. The defense has been plain sloppy the last few games. But hey, I cant complain about the defense if we're winning games regardless.
  20. Hockey teams have captains, not baseball teams. Baseball is too much of an individual-minded sport to have a captain. Every out is batter vs pitcher, with very little outside forces affecting play. It's a lot different than other team sports where someone can be a unifying presence on the court, or the field, or the rink.
  21. Arrgh, ye be a pirate. Anyway, who would ever upload that song to Kazaa? Its such a lame excuse for music. I cant feasibly see anyone wanting to listen to it. Some commercial music is good, but not foxwoods.
  22. I wouldn't want to give up Youki for Zito. Better to hang on to Pedro and let someone else walk.
  23. Gross. I've never heard of this before. Why would he want to come out and say that? It's disgusting! Why would you piss on your hands!?
