  1. Just so long as he knows to take out Pedro in the 8th, he's fine with me
  2. Even though I'm not much of a basketball fan, I must profess I do get excited 9at any sport really) come playoff time. So, even though the C's have a pathetic losing record, they have a spot in the playoffs, provided they can hold of the Cavs. Are they gonna do it? I think they can. Chucky is the man.
  3. I've kind have been brushing him off as doomed for another injury, kind of like Ken Griffey Jr. Hopefully in his age he'll be losing his stuff, but I doubt it. Amid the whole A-rod thing, Brown and Vadge have been pushed to the backburner, so we've almost forgotten about them.
  4. From: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...to_garciaparra/ Nomar reiterates the "look at the big picture" mentality.
  5. Thats a good idea, I'll contact JOS once we get a smidgeon bigger. And rockin', I agree. But we may even need something worse than that!
  6. 13 CG in '97, i didnt know that! But as for making him a closer, I doubt Pedro would accept that, even with declining startinf stuff. It seems to me that this ego is just way too big to only pitch one or two innings every other game or so. But if he wanted to do that, and took a pay cut (im not paying 17 mil for a closer!), he could very well be the best closer the game has ever seen, although he wouldnt be able to pitch long enough to truly earn the title.
  7. Shaughnessy is the worst. We need to do something about him. And thanks for that site, bookmarked.
  8. I dunno. I'm attempting to warm up to them I guess. But its not working, they still suck!
  9. This is what mlb.com has to say about the matter: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bo...s_bos&fext=.jsp
  10. I must say, that picture with d-lowe, curt, and pedro is quite sexy. The article, surprisingly, was actually interesting. And I just got done bashing the mlb site.
  11. Well I added it, we'll see how it goes.
  12. It also seems like all they want to do is sell you stuff, whether it be live games or stupid jerseys.
  13. But the Bertuzzi incident was bad. Its not good to have a sport made up of thugs like that.
  14. this guy is a friend of mine, so we're gonna have to take care of him unfortunately.
  15. I dont remember where i was reading it, I think it was sports illustrated, but they voiced a (what I think is legitimate) concern over how what were fly balls to left in Oakland may be homeruns over the monster in Boston, as Foulke tends to be a flyball pitcher. I dont think its anything to worry about. In his career, over 13 innings, he has a 2.70 era and 4 saves at fenway park.
  16. I hate how all the team websites are standardized. They are all the same and they all have next to NO information on them. I liked it so much more, what was it, 3 years ago when every team had their own unique one. I remember the sox one said "ladies and gentleman boys and girls, welcome to fenway park". That was good! Bring 'em back!
  17. Should we add another forum meant for the other Boston sports- Hockey, baseketball, football for those people too stupid to know. Opinions are welcome!
  18. To be honest, I wish Ken Caminiti had kept his mouth shut. Not that I support steroids, I just think that the publicity they are getting is running the game into the ground.
  19. Wow, this really is turning into mccarthyism (sp?). NOTHING can happen now without fingers being pointed and accusations being thrown around like warm-up tosses (like the baseball reference there?).
  20. I couldnt have said it any better myself.
  21. It may be 406 (hey, i just understood you name, haha. I like it!) but its part of the game in baseball. As you said, Pedro always gets a few "raw deals" and hell, they were an everyday occurence for schill last year. When pedro gets screwed over he usually gets screwed over by the entire team, nomar and trot included. When we win, it is usually because of a collective effort. Rarely do you see nomar going 5-5 with 4 rbis, single-handedly leading the team to victory. So, although the losses may make a one or two game difference, I doubt that they will be anything major in the long run.
  22. Hey man, welcome to the site! I am very happy that you arent a yankees fan, being in NJ and all.
  23. While injuries are never ever ever good, the sox are lucky that they have such a deep bench. Reese/Bellhorn/Crespo (Febles is not on the roster I believe) are more than capable backups, and although they wont be able to replace Nomar/Trot, its not like we are left with nothing.
  24. Evenly matched in badness I guess. But I do see your point. That division is a tossup.
