  1. Assuming all of our pitchers are healthy at once (an unlikely scenario), this would leave us with 6 top-notch starters. Schilling, Wells, Clement, Miller, Wakefield, Arroyo. The battle for number 5 will come down to the last two, both beloved by the fans for what they have done for the team. But only one can be the 5th starter if this entire devastating rotation is active. Right now I'd be forced to pick Cornroyo over Wake. He showed flashes of brilliance last year (especially against A-Rod ), and I expect him to be able to improve this year. Wake has always been the cork for the sox. He can plug anything, anywhere, anytime, which is why he's always been perfect for long relief.
  2. John, he really wasn't bashing Pedro I don't think. This post essentially sums up what Pedro is, really. It's the truth, and you can't deny the truth. He gets into trouble a lot, but nearly always manages to get out of it. To me, this is a compliment for him. Like RSR, it's what's made him great. And the fact that Pedro Martinez threw 60 pitches in the first game of spring training is definitely shocking. Maybe the Mets don't realize how fragile he is, or how injury prone. Then again, maybe he's in the best shape of his career. I guess only time will tell.
  3. I'm standing at the ready with the baseball bat....just give me the green light. And yes, never ever forget the Talksox signs.
  4. And from what source.
  5. Ahaha, 13-0! I don't understand why they do this, to kill their self esteem?
  6. Things you don't hear too often....
  7. I knew Alvarez wore his hat sideways like that, and I knew he was blind in one eye, but I didn't know that he wears his hat like that in order to keep the light in balance or something like that. That's pretty impressive.
  8. Take whatever velocity you see with a grain (nay, a pillar) of salt. It's the first game, they're going easy, and its damn cold outside.
  9. We're.....talking......about.....a......game that's actually going on right now! hooray!
  10. Ah, now I remember why I don't like spring training games. There's next to no energy there. And Clement looks like he's struggling with his control a bit....but we'll give him a break. This time.
  11. Yea, what would you know about that geiser. :harhar: Anyhoo, I'm glad they offer media player as well. I tend to blaze through installs. I'm impatient I guess.
  12. Ew, mlbtv uses real player? I hate that crap. Is there any option to use another player? I'll be relying on this service next year, and I have made a vow to never have real player installed on a computer of mine again.
  13. I said it as a bad thing. I don't want Jim Corsi telling me things I already know for 2 hours.
  14. Yes, but us NESNites get 4 hours of pre and post game analysis!
  15. We play MIN first, then BC and NE on the same day. Weird.
  16. Baseball! Hooray! And this is the one and only spring training game thread. All games will be discussed here, any new threads will be merged.
  17. The preview actually makes it look funny. I guess I have to see any movie which shows Ortiz three times in its preview.
  18. They overflow into your seat. Happens to me all the time.
  19. Are you joking? He missed 8.
  20. Which is why I said it was relative. It's impossible to say how many games he would have started. 21. It depends where on Huntington it is, but Boston is small and Huntington Avenue passes decently close to Fenway, so it probably is within a 20 minute walk to Fenway.
  22. "DD reporter," which means some random fan who was in Chicago. I'm not basing any form of hatred on one of my all time favorite Red Sox because Jessica said he was not kidding around. Sorry.
  23. That's relative, but he started 15 games last year.
  24. Definitely Miller. If he stays healthy (or gets healthy, if you prefer), his wins could easily number in the high teens.
