WELCOME TO THE RED SOX MEGA PREDICTION COMPETITION!

I have seen this in other forums and thought it would be fun to it here. Anyone can join as long as you actively participate. We have roughly 50 games left and lets see who can get the most right.

EVERYONE is invited!

HOW TO POST YOUR PREDICTIONS:

While I really don't care how you post your predictions, it makes my life easier as scorer to score if we have a universal system, and here is an example:

SERIES: New York (7/14 - 7/17)

GAME 1: WIN

GAME 2: LOSS

GAME 3: LOSS

GAME 4: WIN

For your ease of use, here is the code to use for that:

INTRODUCTION:

The objective and play of this game is simple: guess the outcome of all the Red Sox games. Your predictions can be done however far in advance as you want, but as soon as the game starts, you cannot predict that game. Please do this series by series.

We will update the standings here, in this post every week or two. Again, all you gotta do is predict how a game will turn out before the starting time of the game. In the interest of space, I'm gonna ask that you do not do a game by game prediction. It will clutter the thread FAST. You could do an entire week/month in a post prediction if you want also, just no less than a series please.

Do not post pre-game analysis and explanations of who you think will win in here. That belongs in the Red Sox game threads. Don't worry if you miss a few series here and there as just about all of us will. If you miss a game or two in a series you can still post any of the remaining games in that series.

Let me know if you're interested!

PHP Code:

SERIES: TEAM (START DATE - END DATE)

GAME 1: PREDICT

GAME 2: PREDICT

GAME 3: PREDICT

GAME 4: PREDICT

I ask that you use that template in the BODY of your post.

RULES:

1: DEADLINES FOR PREDICTIONS) ALL predictions MUST be in before the game starts. I will show little leeway with this, because its obviously unfair to the rest of the people who are playing. If you have a good excuse, a vote may be considered. If you know you are going away for a week, you may want to predict ahead of time.

1a: EXCEPTIONS FOR LATE PREDICTIONS) While I have set a minimum of one series for a prediction, sometimes people get too busy to get their predictions in before the series starts. If you miss the pre-series deadline, you can still post the predictions for the rest of the series. This means that if a series starts on Friday, and you miss getting them in, you can post you're predictions before Saturday's game for games 2 and 3. Likewise, if you somehow miss both those games, a Sunday prediction will be acceptable. Please try to avoid this though.

2: EDIT WITH CAUTION) If I see a single edited post, my warning flags will be flying high. If you edit, make sure the edit is before game time. I know that there is a short period of time where you can ninja edit your posts, but there is little we can do about that short of setting up a 10 minute rule, which I don't want to do. Just be sure of your choices before you post. If you screw up what you wanted to say, best bet is to delete your post, and post again. That way there is no question about the time of the post. IF YOU EDIT A POST, AND IT'S AFTER THE GAME HAS STARTED, I MAY NOT COUNT IT.

3: SCORING) Ranking will be done by Prediction % out of total games played rather than out of total games, which was used in the first season. This encourages higher participation and activity and favors people who predict more games.

While I won't do it on purpose, I am human, and do make mistakes. Taking an occasional screen shot might not be a bad idea, in case I accidentally screw something up.

While we usually get them in before game time, we won't always be able to post pre-game analysis on time. In the interest of fairness, I am providing links below to let you guys find out who is starting... these links are what I use when I find out who is starting, etc.

It was just a fun thing I was part of in another forum and I think it would be fun to do in here. See who would come out on top.
