Why is this in the Yankee forum? Yes, he's former Yankee prospect, an overrated one at that, but he's current Pirates prospect. This belongs in General Baseball.

I dont think he's overrated. Look at what he did once he got out of NY. He's gonna be very good. I think we needed to make the deal for our short term needs (power hitting OFer and LH specialist/setup man) but I think the Pirates will make out like bandits in the long term

Lol no he isn't very overrated at all. But you know ORS, if he is/was a Yankee he's overrated.

And for the record, I'm pretty sure he's gonna break camp with the bucs, so I wouldn't consider him a Pirates prospect.

Yeah, he sure looks like a young Manny Ramirez. You guys are right.

He sucks. Everyone in the Yankee farm system sucks with the possible exception of Jesus Montero or Romero or whatever his name is.

Everyone in Boston sucks except for Lars [what kind of first name is Lars anyways].

They all suck. f*** them.

The boy's name Lars is of Scandinavian origin. Variant of Lawrence.

Lars has 3 variant forms: Larsen, Larson and Larsson.

Lars is a very rare male first name and a popular surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).

Hope that helps.

By the way...Carsten Charles Sabathia? What the hell kinda name is "Carsten?" Luckily he can pitch otherwise I'm thinking the poor f***er ends up on the back of a milk carton with a name like Carsten.

Na I'm not even saying that. He has impressed with his spring though, and it's a good chance he makes the club, especially after he impressed after going over last year in the minors. Granted it's a bad ballclub, but he's got some tools and potential.

It's an unfortunate situation for him though, he needs to get rid of that chick.

Regardless, the Manny Ramirez comparison he got in rookie ball is what drove him into an overrated status. He was a top 5 Yankee prospect the next year. Against more advanced competition, at best, he's looked like a light hitting corner outfielder. Manny hit 31 HR in his age 21 season between AA and AAA. Over. Rated. This doesn't mean "future bust", or "career nothing". It means he's very unlikely to be as good as people thought 2 years ago, IMO.

As far as my objectivity goes, you didn't seem to have a problem when I said Cano had the potential for greater future value than Pedroia due to his power potential last offseason. It wasn't an issue when I thought the Yankees should keep Hughes for the long term because of his talent. You only notice when I don't have good things to say, especially when it's about the completely mediocre Melky Cabrera.

Besides, you shouldn't bring up objectivity. Want me to dig up that thread where you apply opposite sides of the determining criteria in why you like Cano over Pedroia and Duncan over Youkilis? I'm sure Crespo remembers it.
