Monday April 14

Ian Kennedy (0-1, 13.50) vs. Andy Sonnanstine (1-1, 6.00), 7:10PM EDT

Tuesday April 15

Andy Pettitte (1-1, 3.09) vs. Edwin Jackson (2-0, 0.64), 7:10PM EDT

The Yankees will be thin for the next few days with Joba and Molina out, ARod leaving at some point for the birth of his child and Jeter and Posada still banged up.

The Yankees have summoned Chad Moeller to Tampa. No word yet on what other moves are being made.

Moeller, 33, has caught 421 games in the majors with five teams and is a .224 career hitter. Through 8 games in Scranton, he was at .136/.231/.182.

More later once we get to Tropicana Field.

As Joba Chamberlain attends to his father, the Yankees also will need a Plan B for third base sometime soon as Alex Rodriguez’s wife is due to deliver a baby this week. One way or another, they’ll round up nine players. They always do.

So Betemit hits the DL with pink eye, and Joba hits the bereavement list. That brings up Albeladejo and Moeller, and leaves us with a knocked up Jorgie, Jeter, and Molina on the bench. This series is NOT going to be fun. I find it interesting that Molina is still active, must mean that his condition isn't too serious. Also indicates that Moeller may not be with the organization too much longer, as he would have to clear waivers to go back to Scranton. I know the Yankees were very impressed with him after signing him mid-way through Spring Training, and have remained impressed with how well he has handled the pitching staff in Scranton. They've gotten off to a realllly nice start, Igawa included. I suppose Molina could hit the DL at some point retroactive to his last appearance, but I think if it looks like that may be the case we should do it now considering the lack of depth we currently possess. Should be an interesting series to watch. I call a split.

It is all about getting Betemit at bats. Betemit is hitting so poorly that he wont get a shot in the bigs. But dropping him to AAA would have put him on waivers, something he wouldnt clear. So putting him on the DL allows him to "rehab" and he should be hitting by the time we call him back up. Something akin to what we did with Duncan. It isnt like Duncan couldnt have helped us, but he wasnt hitting well in limited duty so we sent him down. Now he's hitting .500 with 3 bombs in 20 ABs.

thing is' date=' Bruney now throws strikes. But he needs to mix it in. You cannot throw all balls (2007) or all strikes. Sometimes, you need to throw the ball outside the zone.[/quote']There's a reason why he was waived by Arizona. You saw the reason tonight.

prior to tonights game he threw 7 scoreless innings. He was waived because he walked nearly 6 per 9 in ARI. He did that in 06 and then 07 with us too. If he throws strikes, tonight will be more the exception than the rule.
