Yankees end Columbus affiliation, sign deal with Scranton

Since 1979 the AAA Affiliate of the New York Yankees has been the Columbus Clippers. In 2007, that will come to an end. The Yankees and Clippers have cut their ties and gone their seperate ways. The Yankees have signed a two year deal with the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Red Barons.

Yankee fans have become very accustomed to seeing their stars come up through Columbus over the years. Mattingly, Jeter, Bernie, Rivera, etc.

What I like about the Yankees affiliating with Scranton is the location. Scranton is a reasonable 2 and a half hours from my house, and I can have an opportunity to see Yankee farmhands play more often. I'll definately get to see Hughes pitch a bunch of times this year, unlike last year down in Trenton.

I'm just curious if the Red Barons change their name, and color scheme. I'm not too huge on Red Barons, nor the red pinstripes. It'll also be interesting to see the changes that the Clippers make. I imagine they'll change their Yankee-like uniforms.

Also, if anyone was wondering, the Clippers are now affiliated with the Washington Nationals. Taking the Nationals place in New Orleans is the Mets, ending their relationship with the Tidewater/Norfolk Tides. Now in Norfolk are the Baltimore Orioles, who were replaced in Ottawa by the Phillies.

..this is gonna take some getting used to.

I made the thread because I had noticed that it wasnt mentioned anywhere. This news is like a week old. I didnt feel necessary to provide any links, but all the info is on milb.com if you want to confirm everything I mentioned.
