I was just wondering when you think Rudy Seanez will be ready to have the official "f***ing" added as his middle name. Losing a game to the Yanks by walking in the winning run is certainly a cardinal sin

I reserve the middle name “f***ing” for only the worst offenders like Aaron f***ing Boone.

But back to Seanez, I’m of the camp that thinks he was brought in one batter too late last night. And even today I still think he’s the most reliable arm in the pen other than Paps

i know he has not earned it yet, but another could get him there and there is no way he is more reliable than Foulke, JVB when he was there, or Timlin when he was there

My bad…I should have added the fact that Foulke wasn’t available due to injuries. But to be honest I don’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I see him brought in to close situations like last night. JMO…

not warm and fuzzy, but i cannot stand when seanez gets in there

I actually think we should have thrown Hansen out there, the Yanks obviously have problems hitting guys the very first time they see them

I just read you blog review of last night’s game and saw the lines:

Francona brought in one of the Sox most unreliable relievers in Rudy Seanez.

Rudy Seanez lost a game that was brilliantly pitched by young David Pauley.

Although he walked the winning run you could make the argument that Francona could have possibly done more to enable a win by taking out Pauley sooner, before the bases were loaded. Or even more put a lineup together that doesn’t have struggling players like Crisp and Tek batting in key positions in the order.

There’s enough “blame” to throw around that maybe Seanez shouldn’t take the full brunt of it all.

Side note: Your blog continues to rock...good work!

I definitely agree with you on the topics of Crisp and Tek. Also, Francona deserves the blame also, I dont think Seanez should have been on the field or on the team for that matter, but Seanez is supposedly a major league pitcher and should know that he had to throw a strike one way or another

Nobody deserves the blame. Who else was he going to bring in?

Foulke? No, hurt

Timlin? DL

VanBuren? Sent down

Papelbon to pitch 2 2/3 innings? Yeah if you dont want a closer by years end.

Hansen? The guy proobably didnt even have his spikes on yet.

Riske? Blah

Tavarez? Blah

The Bullpen is severely depleted. Of the choices, Francona said that Seanez had the best track record, and he has been pitching much better lately. Yeah it sucks that he walked in the winning run, but its not exactly easy to walk into that situation with the sacks jacked in Yankees stadium and come away unscathed. Worse things have happened. How about a little encouragement for the guy who about a month ago had an ERA of about 12.50.

The real concern was the night before when Beckett got lit up like a Christmas tree five days after allowing four HR to the Jays.

Delcarmen possibly, but there really wasnt much of a choice.

Yeah, didnt even think about him....but he was used the previous 2 outta three games in a three game stretch. Last night might have overdone it. Also, this season Tito seems to be rotating the guys hes calling from the bullpen every other game. (Since his guns Timlin and Foulke have not been available)

Anyone feel like giving credit to Mr. Giambi?

The margin of error was way too small to allow Pauley to pitch to Caberra. Though, Pauley took the wrong approach, and should have attacked Caberra with fastballs right over the plate. I mean, the kid's got less power then Ozzie Smith did, do you really think he could have done anything else besides hit a single?

Instead, Pauley throws four balls that aren't even close, and up steps the most patient hitter in the AL. C'mon, if anyone of you weren't expecting the Yankees to be up 5-1 or 2-1 after Giambi dug into the batters box, then you should reevaluate plate discipline.

Oh, and the Red Sox should be able to play baseball tonight.
