The Red Sox announced that Trot Nixon left the game in the top of the fourth with a mild left groin strain. The move was deemed a precautionary measure. Nixon was replaced by Wily Mo Pena in right field.

After the game, Nixon said he expected to be out at least five to seven days with the injury.

I was reading over at SOSH, that Alejandro Machado was pulled out of the Pawtucket lineup. Maybe he's up to Boston?

Nixon's injury does not really need a DL trip unless its more serious than the 5-7 days

However we would be playing with a 23 man roster for the next few games and Trot's injuries always seem to be longer than originally thought.

Stern is fine in center and pena can use some ab's in right. Mohr (sp?) will play some too so were ok! I have a feeling that stern may get more playing time in right this year if nixon is hurt---he deserves to stay and pena looks lost!

Those of you doubting the Pena/Arroyo trade, here is the reason they made it. Depth. Besides, Pena needs some regular playing time, and there are a string of LHP in the upcoming schedule.

Probables

4/12 vs. TOR - Chacin

4/13 vs. TOR - Lilly

4/14 vs. SEA - Moyer

4/16 vs. SEA - Washburn

4/18 vs. TB - Fossum

4/20 vs. TB - Kazmir

This is exactly what I've said all along that the Sox would be fine even through the turmoil of the off-season.

All that matters is pitching. Starting pitching, the rotation is phenomenal. It doesn't get much better than a healthy Schilling and Josh "the yankee killer" Beckett. As far as the bullpen goes, setup men don't get much better than Timlin, and a reliable closer is needed, whether that's Foulke or Papelbon.

As far as run support, no lineup will struggle to score with Papi and Manny in it. I think this start is a sign of things to come as long as injuries don't kill us.
