After being up 5 games in August, we are now about to be 1 game down. Thats why every game is do or die in my opinion. The Yankees are hot right now and Im losing confidence that we are going to get it done. Three in Baltimore and back at Fenway where the winning percentage goes way up. Whos going to step up and spark the offense? Any predictions.

Well, if we want to win the division, it's crucial we take advantage of the sinking O's and not get beaten by these average pitchers. Luckily we don't have to face Lopez, who always kills us, but if we lose 2/3 here my prediction is it's over. However if we sweep here, it's likely that the Yanks will lose at least 1 in the next series, they can't win forever. Also we need to gain at least 1 game on them before going into the final series with them. That way we can try winning 2/3 instead of sweeping.

We need to Sweep the O's (just like the yankees did), 3 of 4 from the Jays, and 2 out of 3 from the Yanks.

That's 8-2, not likely, but not impossible either.

Yankees do not have a day off for the rest of the regular season

Blue Jays

Sept 23- Chacon vs Lilly

Sept 23- Wright vs Downs

Sept 24- Wang vs Towers

Sept 26-30 vs Orioles at Camden yards

then... Red Sox

Sept 30- Wells vs Wright or Wang

Oct 1- Schilling vs Johnson

Oct 2- Wakefield vs Mussina

This mentality is what kills me.

If every game BEFORE these games had been cruicial, the Sox would still be up by 4-6 games. No intensity, no consistency - I think they thought they had a cakewalk to the division title, and that the Yankees would stay down.

Alas, like I said MONTHS ago - the Yankees are NEVER out of it, and the Red Sox can NEVER relax, or s*** like this will happen. Every game since they got the lead in the division should have been crucial to them, and us.

If they are going to win a stretch of games here, then they must have Damon in the lineup, and Tito cannot burn Timlin out, he's going to have to trust some of the new kids, Delcarmen, Papelbon and Hansen out of the pen. Bradford and Myers are strictly situational. And somehow, by some miracle, Clement and Wells have to turn it around. One more thing, Ortiz must stay hot.

I just remembered that The Yanks were once in last place...

If they keep on winning though, its gunna be tough for us to gain anything and that means we'll have to sweep, so its very important we do very good and take advantage of these average teams.

If we don't use Hansen we will lose. I'm sorry, but regardless of mentality, immaturity, etc., what's the worst that's going to happen? He gives up a few hits and we lose. What's likely to happen? Well, Hansen will probably throw a number of nasty 98 mph pitches and, whether he gives up runs or not, he will make it hard to hit.

And everyday is more and more nerve racking for me as we get closer to the end of the year. Next weekend is going to be one of the most important in my and im sure all the other Sox fans out there's lives.
