and his batting average this season is at like .213--so yeah have kapler be the starting right fielder until trot gets back with cruz and stern as backups in the late innings

I dont understand why everyone is so down on Cruz. You guys just love jumping on people (see Edgar Renteria). Atleast give the guy a chance to play his first game before we give up on him. Look at his last few seasons ... not just this one. I think he's going to be a hell of a pickup once he gets comfortable in Boston. I really think he'll prove himself worthy of being a Red Sox before too long.

Oh I know there are a few of us in RSN that will actually give a player a chance before we crucify him. I was just talking to those that had bashed Edgah.

yeah Edgar is turning himself around and has since beginning of July heightened the defense plasy compared to when he first started. He is the best option for the Sox if they want to bunt, his speed evn helped him at times to beat the throw, but still 100% of time he gets the runners to advance. like take what he did in the 8th inning when Kapler and Damon were done away with so quickly, Edgar is simply "clutch" driving a high double off of the green monster, then able to score on Manny's dramatic single that went past the pitcher and 2nd baseman--not to mention him dropping a bunt to get on base for Ortiz's 9th inning walk off homerun against the Orioles in early June

I agree. I was excited to hear that they got Cruz. He's won a gold glove and could hit homers. good enough for me.

Edgar really started turning it on when we had that string of what 5 straight games against lefties? He feasts on lefties and is average against righties. Also he's clutch as hell in the playoffs. So now more than half of our lineup is clutch in the playoffs. Oh I can't wait

Does anyone remember when he made that sick catch a few years ago on opening day. We were facing the jays and carpenter was the starter for the jays.
