Wakefield vs Mussina. 1:05 pm EST, again.

Another useless middle of the day game, thanks a lot MLB. I have a feeling that our boys are eager to get out their and atone for the past two games. Mussina is the most hittable he's been in a long time, and we need to take advantage of that. It's gonna be 6-3 sox and Renteria will finally get it together. I hope.

Note how I said 6-3 earlier. I was close, right?

I think the excitement got to Francona...but he's ok now.

What I don't understand is how come we've been so good agaist Rivera of late. Is it because he was proven to be beatable last year? Are we feeding off of the past success? He has a 2.9something era against the sox lifetime, so its not like our team has had his number for long.

I hate day games. Even when the Sox win. But even if they played tonight I still wouldnt have watched it, as the Celtics are on. But from what I've heard it was a good win.

You'd watch the celtics over sox-yanks  ?

I think facing him roughly 15-20 times a year, has something to do it. When you only have 1 pitch and a team sees you that many times, eventually hitters are going to catch on. Until he adds another dominant pitch I think the Sox will continue to feast on him.

I love watching Mo fall apart. The only thing more satisfying would've been if Timlin's pitch knocked Jeter unconscious.

Yes, without a doubt. Id watch the Celtics over anything, except the Pats. Of course during the commercials though I would watch the Sox game so I wouldnt see the gay midget leprachaun foxwoods commercial.

But how come the Orioles or Jays don't feast on him? Sure, their hitters aren't as good as ours, but if this is truly it, shouldn't they be able to hit him all the time? I think it may be mental, particularly on his part. He knows he isn't invincible against us, so he makes mistakes.

Well the last 4 times we have faced him we have, obviously you can't be successful against a pitcher every single game. The Orioles and Jays, change their lineups very frequently and not many players stay in those lineups consistently for a number of years. Plus our lineup is very superior to the Jays, the Orioles lineup is very good, but a lot of those players have joined the O's in the last couple of years, so they haven't faced Mo like we have.

Their hitters are pretty damn good, but the problem is it's mental, and our hitters are much more selective. Look at how our hitters take the pitch they want and hit the ball.

Lets see how we blow a bases loaded no one out situation.

Haha you obviously haven't lost the tradition Red Sox fan-mentality...
