Washington's going to have an awful team OBP this year. You can't score without folks on base. Jim Bowden's formula does not work; he's just going for names and foresaking any semblance of logic. The Guillen trade was OK, but that left side of the infield blows. Pathetic.

Well if you look at it statstically wise, Bowden upgraded the OBP.

There's no way Castilla has an OBP over .300 in Washington next season. The Coors effect was the only reason he had a good season.

 

Wilkerson and Johnson are two very good OBP players, while Vidro and Guillen are also rather adept at getting on base. Still, Johnson is never healthy and Vidro's coming off a tough injury year himself. Beyond those 4 guys, the team OBP is going to be below .300.

well if you think about it they were having problems with him, so i can understand them trading him...but theyve gotta get someone better than juan rivvera and some prospect

I think that price is about the price that most teams would of spent to acquire Guillen. Rivera had a good year with Montreal and Arizona may be interested in acquiring Izturis, so that the Angels can trade for Randy Johnson.
