The Red Sox have not made a World Series appearance in my lifetime. I can only recall 3 playoff years. Right now the sox are getting creamed 6-0 in the top of the 4th in game 1 of the ALCS.

Don't misunderstand me please. I'm not jumping ship and declaring the sox dead, as yankee fans tend to do when their team hits the first sign of trouble. I'm just speaking my mind and admitting things that most sox fans won't admit, even though they know it's true. I don't expect the sox to win this year. You don't either when it's all said and done. I can hope, sure, but I don't expect them to win. And deep down, I know they most likely won't. They're the Red Sox dammit.

But that's the thing. They are the Red Sox. The Red Sox are the Red Sox because they blow it and give their fans ulcers. That's what they do, there's no denying it. We can all have a good laugh and a few heart attacks about it. I don't really know how to say this without sounding like a complete dumbass, but I kind of don't want the sox to win it that badly. I can accept defeat, my entire baseball fan career has been centered around it.

If the sox win, doesn't that take the fun out of it? Won't we just be like any other team? We'd have won a championship, sure, but what then? The joy of the sox (take the word Joy with a grain of salt) is that they don't win. Ever. I don't really know how to put it into words though. I'm not rooting for the f***ing yankees, far from it. I'm rooting for the sox with all my might, believe me. It's just that I know, no matter how much I and all of Boston root, that the odds are against us.

Watching this game now, I'm hoping it's quick and easy. No "what ifs" or "what could have beens". They may just get slaughtered. Watching this game you half expect them to. Meh, I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I want them to win, but I dont, because what fun would it be then? I try to be optimistic about the team, but it's kinda hard to do, you know?

Oh well.

Yes, i would be odd for the Red Sox to actually win a World Series. The feeling you describe is a weird feeling, and I certainly have had it at times.

I never expect to see this team in World Series, as you said it is more like hope. I still do want the Sox to win, and i think it will be odd if we did, and there would be something missing next year, the want for them to win the World Series because we would have just won it. I always get excited for the team at the start of every season, everyone does, like the last postseason fall didn't exist.

i dont know what youre saying. to me, winning a world series is full of pride and joy. the next season, we go at it again, and the yankees will still be the yankees, with an even heated topic to it. now that we have won a world series, where do we go next? remember people, this is the red sox, theyre not normal, and i dont expect them to be. the yankees will come up with something else, and we will deal with it. winning a world series with the red sox, to me at least, is something that is great. the truth is though, it sucks to be a sox fan.

what the f*** is going in here. I am the first guy in the world to start this kind of stuff but not this year!

It sounds to me like some of us are trying to set up sa loss so it doesnt feel as bad as some of the other defeats we have endured.

The rationale game.

This has nothing to do with history or with the red sox just being losers. It has to do with starting a guy who shouldnt have started,. It has to do with being shut down by their ace. It has to do with some of the worst managing in the history of the redsox. It has to do with a brilliant comeback aNd a lot of heart.

Buck up yeszir--wipe away the tears, call off the pity party.

this is not your fathers redsox, this is the 2004 bunch of idiots.

I'll tell you what you do if they win, cry, scream, jump up and down, and think about being able to tell your grandkids you cheered on tthe red sox when they finally won.

You cant give up hope after that,...You cant defoine being a redsox fan by losing, dont give in to the yankees.

Never give up, never give in, fire franconca, and then we'll win.

Thats a poem.

COME ON PEOPLE, THAT WAS AN Awesome comeback.....

LETS GO PEDRO.
