If any player had a weekend to forget it was Jason Varitek.

0 for 10 with 8 K's.

His bat looked incredibly slow. I'm wondering if fatigue is becomign a factor. at 32 years old, he's currently on pace to catch a little less than last year's 137 games.

Tek has been a huge factor for the entire season, unfortunately he seems to not have good success against the Yankees, it might be a matter of untimely slumps but I think when we got swept he had an awful series as well.

He's been extraordinarily streaky this year. I remember a few months (or weeks?) back he was in an absolute funk, kind of like this weekend. Hopefully he'll snap out of it soon, and the Sox will bounce back from the new york disaster.

It was a disaster. Now not being a troll, I think those two games put a wound in the Sox. Now the race is not over obviously but this hurt the team you should at least accept that. I also would like to add the comment on how I am not being rude or being a troll to all of you Sox fans. I know some of you are at the YES board annoying us. Can you please stop? That is all I ask. If they wanted too they could all come here and add spam. That is all I ask thanks.

Clearly Tek is slumping. He looked bad at the plate tonight going 0-4 and he's got three hits for the week. He gets an off day Saturday with Wake starting but the question is does Francona rest him a little more for the playoffs?

maybe this day off is just what tek needs. i dont think he should keep him out of the lineup at all. yes, our magic number is 5 to lock up the WC, but thats 5 WHOLE GAMES to win. we need tek to win, hes a key part of the lineup. maybe once we lock up the WC we can rest him, but even then, i would still play him to keep him in the groove of baseball. too much rest can be catastrophic for a player like him, he needs to consistently play to get better. hes not gunna get better by sitting on the bench.
