This team is spiraling downward, in fact in such poor shape, they'll be trailing the Devil Rays if something doesn't change soon.

Nomar has officially become a problem. He wants out, and he's playing like it! He isn't hitting, he isn't catching the ball.

Ship him and Millar to LA for pitching

Theo, shake things up!

It was pretty pathetic how the Yankees were stealing AT WILL against Lowe last night!

Posted

if we did we should get at least Odalis Perez and either Guillermo Mota or Edwin Jackson. those are the only two that would make a trade for Nomar fair

also, we should trade that fat, KFC eating, blob of fat we call Kevin Millar...

This team needs some energy. Maybe Brandon Phillips (the Guardians gave up on him) for Millar, we'll pay his 04 salary.

Phillips should have a chance to replace Nomar next year.

SO:

Send Nomar to LA for Perez,Mota

Send Millar, cash to CLE for Phillips.

Don't feel bad, I just put it on there yesterday.

"Is that Bill Shakesphere over there?"

Actually, that gives me a thought: Maybe Theo needs to hire Matt Foley...he could be in the Red Sox' visitor clubhouse (starting now) drinking coffee and eating ring dings...

The Dodgers aren't trading Mota at all. They wouldn't do it for Beltran, so I doubt they'll do it for Nomar. Nomar for Perez and Joel Hanrahan (AAA pitching prospect) might work. Both of those players would be in our rotation next season. I still love this trade though.

Zenny responded before I could...there's not way the Dodgers will give up the premier set-up man in baseball for Nomar. Cross Edwin Jackson off the list too, he's not going anywhere!

It's hard to imagine LA giving up Mota, Jackson, etc for Nomar, but it's also hard to imagine getting ONLY Perez for Nomar. He seems to be up and down (although very good this year).

There's a big difference between Dodger Stadium and Fenway Park!

That being said, Perez' away ERA (2.10) is much better than his ERA at home (3.91). I do like his 77/24 K/BB ratio, but lefties are hitting him pretty well (.281).

I say he's probably #3 or #4 in the BoSox rotation....Is a #3 or #4 starter worth losing Nomar? (considering he's gotta turn it around sometime, AND Perez is also in his walk year)

I don't get to any games, but if anyone who reads this does....

BOO nomar until he can't hear himself THINK anymore.

Theo and company will get the point. Nomar should have just made his last error in a boston uniform. I don't care, trade him to the MFY, just get him out of boston

The truth comes out........Nomar is angry at a colony of ants living near the 1st base bag in Yankee Stadium. He's trying to exterminate them with his throws.

sorry to burst your bubble about Odalis but...

News

Odalis Perez was supposed to undergo an MRI on his sore left shoulder on Tuesday, but he had an adverse reaction to the anti-inflammatory medication he began receiving after being pulled from Saturday's start after five innings. "It hit my stomach hard," Perez told the Los Angeles Times. "This morning, I couldn't get up. I felt dizzy. My stomach wasn't feeling good. I was afraid to drive like that." The new plan is for the Dodgers' southpaw to undergo an MRI today to see if there is something more going on with his shoulder that the original diagnosis of biceps tendoinits.

It looks like Perez won't be making his next scheduled start this Friday. Whether he goes on the disabled list depends in part on what's revealed in the MRI…if he ever gets it done.

I have Perez on my fantasy team too. GODDAMNIT! I hope he's OK. Well, maybe this will lower the asking price.

They said Garciaparra's ankle was bothering him.

I missed that controversy, but I saw that error. Pitiful -_- (And I'm his fan!)

From the South-Florida Sun-Sentinel:

Nomar Garciaparra might have worn out his welcome in Boston, but if the Red Sox decide to make the two-time American League batting champion available they could find a willing taker in South Florida.

According to major league sources, the Marlins are weighing the merits of renting the superstar shortstop. Having received maximum production last season out of a pending free agent (Pudge Rodriguez) at a premium position (catcher), the Marlins could try the same approach with Garciaparra.

As their offensive woes deepen -- just two major league teams are batting worse with runners in scoring position (.237) -- the Marlins are telling other teams they need another bat at least as much as they need bullpen help.

The most likely trade bait would be shortstop Alex Gonzalez, a longtime favorite of Boston owner John Henry. If the Marlins thought Garciaparra could (or would) move to first base, they might be willing to part with Hee Seop Choi instead.

Because the Red Sox have Pokey Reese, they wouldn't necessarily need a shortstop in return. Starting pitching would be more apt to catch their eye.

The Red Sox have asked about right-hander Brad Penny in the past, and Carl Pavano, named Sunday to his first All-Star team, began his career in the Boston organization. Red Sox scouts Bill Lajoie and Murray Cook were at Pro Player Stadium for the recent series against Atlanta, when Penny and Pavano started on consecutive days.

Penny's $3.725 million salary could soar past $7 million next year through arbitration. Pavano, making $3.8 million this year, can be a free agent at season's end.

A two-for-two swap that would net Garciaparra and struggling right-hander Derek Lowe, and send them to South Florida for Pavano and Gonzalez or Pavano and Choi.

Oh my God, this is the best one yet.

i wouldnt like that trade at all. we would be giving up WAY too much

Nomar and Lowe (when on his game) is worth 500 times Choi/Gonzalez and Pavano. Pavano is a one year wonder. He has never really been that good. This trade would make our team that much worse

I'm not sold on Pavano, although I think the Cubs gave up on Choi a little too easily.

I think a Nomar/Lowe deal for Choi,Penny, and another decent arm wouldn't be horrible.
