  1. You did not mention that we gave up a pretty good prospect (Tolle) to get this guy.
  2. Guess this is what we should expect - 3.2 innings pitched, 6 hits, 3 earned runs. If he was so wonderful why did they let him go? We have good young arms in the minors - are they ready? I don't know. Trading for "used to be good" is not as wise as trading for or keeping "might be Cy Young"!!
  3. He is a keeper as the only other right-handed hitting outfielder besides Rafaela. Besides that he is above all averages.
  4. Guess my opinion started this discussion. I would still take Grissom over Hamilton. Bottom Line: All of us on this site are armature general managers! That is the fun of it, we can bitch and moan over whatever decision the Sox make but we still love and cheer for them. I also would have traded Brigham at the deadline.
  5. I still think we should have traded at the deadline. However, I look pretty good with egg on my face and eating crow is not too bad if you marinate it properly.
  6. Three guys CALLED OUT on strikes with runners on in one inning. Not very aggressive!
  7. Did Criswell have a round trip ticket? Maybe he can come back and replace our 21M "post-season" miracle worker Buehler. Another great sign by management!
  8. Guess pitching a great game on short notice carries no weight with the Sox. Criswell back to AAA today!
  9. When Mayer got hurt the Sox brought up Hamilton (who cant see the Mendoza without a telescope) but left Vaughn Grissom at AAA. Grissom was hitting at 344 in July and has a future (although not as fast). We have AAA teams with talented players because we know people in the BIGS get hurt and need to be replaced. The AAA players need to know that if they do well they will be recognized. The Sox threw a serious slap in the face to Vaughn by promoting a lesser player. Guess he is not in the Sox plans.
  10. I disagree. Cora plays what he is given. Breslow sucks as a GM because he sticks to his computer models and the owners salary restrictions.
  11. I have no defense of Breslow except he is a pawn to management.  He can't be this inept on his own!

    1. Kimmi

      Kimmi

I can understand where you're coming from.  I think Sox fans are just very frustrated with seeing yet another trade deadline come and go without any significant acquisitions.

  12. Unless I missed some late breaking news I am sorely disappointed in the Sox lack of activity. Guess management feels the Sox are fine with the current roster with the addition of two mediocre pitchers. I STRONGLY DISAGREE!! Sox management looks at the bottom line before wanting to win. Profit from a major sports franchise is made when you sell the team. Winning teams put butts in the seats and sells team merchandise. It's not like the Sox management doesn't have bucks. Don't be surprised if Lebron bails due to lack of interest in winning. We still have excess left hand hitting outfielders , No consistent player at first base and no backup catcher. We gave up a right handed power hitting corner infielder for a left handed reliever and gave up a piece from the Devers trade for a Tommy John pitcher with a losing record and an ERA over 4.00
  13. What is Bres willing to give up? The big A has not had a great year. Paying on past performance has been a fault of the Sox
  14. Sox 42 to Sox Management Not a popular position but I would offer Bregman a new contract (3-4 years at 40M starting 2026) If accepted, problem solved (put up or shut up time). He says he loves the team - show it! If not trade him to the team with the best offer. If he is only interested in money during free agency the Sox would get out-bid by the Mets, Yankees, and Tigers (maybe others). We have to trade a left hand hitting outfielder. I pick Abreu. Nobody will take Yoshida with his contract. Don't give up on Campbell. He may be our answer at first base. Password and Rolle should be protected. Don't continue to chase any used to be good pitchers with arm problems. Repeating failures is a sign of mental disorder.
  15. When I was playing high school + military it was always hit the ball HARD somewhere. Then I read or heard Dewey Evans remark about a homer in Detroit (1-0 sox) that his homer would have been a single at Fenway. Today we are all eat up about velocity off the bat. That is great except hard grounders and line drives are often caught for outs. It is my belief swings should be altered a bit so lift is encouraged. Anthony especially might benefit. Barrel contact is still essential but swing angle might result in more extra base hits instead of WOW velocity singles.
  16. OK Splinter: I agree with you but I am not so sure the Twins would. Abreu or Duran and 1/2 prospects for Ryan (not Rolle) seems fine. I would rather have Buehler and/or Yoshida as one of the two. Money should not be an issue.
  17. Realized that Google has taken a lot of fun out of "Do you Remember Questions". However, my response to the Sox question is if Roger and Pedro are not included --------
  18. The 1971 Baltimore Orioles had four 20 game winners. However, I feel the Atlanta Braves 4 of Maddox, Glavine, Avery, and Smoltz might have been more talented. What do you think was the Red Sox best 4?
  19. My apologies to Jim Cramer on CNBC for using his line! Must trade these three because we can't win it all with our current roster. Corner outfielder. Bergman. Chapman. Keeping Bergman and Chapman MIGHT get us in the playoffs, but I think participation awards are over-rated! They are having good years and a trade now should result in a good return. Both are free agents at the end of the year so holding on to them could result in us getting nothing for next year. (risk/reward) We were not saved by our "Golden Three"! Campbell got sent back to minors and is having trouble staying above the Mendoza line. Grisham would be best for current 2B situation (we did trade Chris Sale for him). Put Rafaela back in center where he belongs. Mayer is hurt, hitting 228 and is useless against lefties. Anthony at 254 looks major league ready but not up to savior status. Trade corner outfielder - Can't play all three every day and leave Rafaela in center, Besides our best hitter in AAA is the Password who happens to be an outfielder. You can include Buehler, Yoshida, Hendricks, as fillers in any trade. I would want - Starting pitchers with team control - Righthanded power hitting first baseman - backup catcher (not Vasquez)
  20. Won't give a name (depends on the return) but a corner left handed hitting outfielder.
  21. Admire you Charlie but flying on a charter jet and staying in a luxury hotel with meal money does not seem like a hardship. Ask us military flyers about our accommodations.
  22. I agree on the torn ACL. But don't they have trainers to make you do proper stretches and exercises? When you are paid $40M to play a game you should be available to play the game.
