  1. Devers has actually really improved over the last few weeks, and it's because he's putting the ball in the air more. You need patience with a young kid like him, and it's paying off. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/15/rafael-devers-is-heating-up/
  2. We could use another outfielder. Benny, Mookie, and JD are our three best position players, and there's a massive drop in talent from them to the next outfielder up. Holt's been good, but he's historically suffered massive production drops when he's asked to be anything more than a bench player. And Swihart doesn't look like he'll do much of anything, at least this year
  3. Leon is a servicable backup, but that's all he is. The Sox catchers have the worst WAR in baseball, and Leon's a decent part of that. When Pedroia's healthy, Nunez is a bench player. However, Pedroia's only played in two games all year, and nobody knows when he's coming back. So for the foreseeable future, Nunez can't really be considered part of the bench. And yeah, the pitchers are great. The offensive depth, that's a bit of an issue. The bench is only Swihart, Leon, and Holt.
  4. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/12/the-boston-red-sox-have-a-depth-problem/ The Sox have some really great hitters, but the depth hasn't been pulling their weight. Because of this, the offense just dies when JD, Benny, Bogey or Mookie go cold. Can the Sox fix this?
  5. Yeah he can definitely be a big arm for us for a long time
  6. The dude had another great outing yesterday, and has been great since the call up. He's got a great track record, and he should be with the major league club the rest of the year https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/11/brandon-workman-should-be-here-to-stay/
  7. Yeah Johnson just needed time to adjust to the bullpen. His numbers as a starter actually aren't bad, and he's settled down in the pen
  8. There’s enough smaller outlets that give pretty solid coverage. Granted, you have to look a bit deeper, but it’s a hell of a lot better than Felger and Mazz
  9. I haven’t heard much about his size, mostly about his cutter. Maybe you should change your news source bro
  10. I'm looking forward to seeing what the kid's got. Scouting report looks solid. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/07/getting-to-know-jalen-beeks/
  11. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/01/times-up-drew-pomeranz/ Red Sox need to take him out of the rotation. He’s had his chance to prove himself
  12. Pom struggled out of the gate last year before being apgreat the rest of the way, but his time is running out. I say if he struggles against the Astros, put Wright or Velazquez (preferably Velazquez) in the rotation
  13. Looking for some new podcasts to listen to. I know about Section 10 and ones like that, but does anyone have any lesser-known podcasts they like?
  14. Shocked to see Hanley optioned. At least we're off the hook for the $22 million option https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/05/25/why-the-boston-red-sox-moved-on-from-hanley-ramirez/
  15. High school is a little bit different from the majors, and Team USA was a short stint. JD's been an outfielder his whole career
  16. Poyner's one roster spot, but what do you do with the other? Pedey and Thornburg are both coming back at essentially the same time
  17. That's what I thought too, but he's actually got some pretty encouraging numbers in starts. Almost off of his bad numbers come from his relief appearances. Here's the article if you're interested: https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/05/15/examining-brian-johnson-trade-market/
  18. Well I mean, Martinez actually is an outfielder...we were just asking Swihart to figure it out as he went.
  19. With Wright back it feels like his role is a little expendable. He's a decent spot starter, think we could get something decent if we packaged him with someone like Swihart?
  20. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/05/22/what-to-do-with-jackie-bradley-jr/ Read a pretty good article about this here. Trade him, but don't do it now because his value is so low.
  21. Betts Benny Bogaerts JD Moreland Hanley Pedey Defers Leon That lineup is so amazing. Any guy 1-8 can change the game with the swing of a bat
  22. They're not a top-five unit by any means, but I think they're a lot better than they're given credit for, especially when Thornburg comes back. Just keep Hembree off the mound lol
  23. Honestly this conversation should begin and end with Francona
  24. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/05/20/mike-trout-versus-mookie-betts-looking-beyond-the-war/ This is a pretty strong breakdown of Mookie and Trout's seasons thus far. It explains why Trout has the higher WAR (by some measurements) and why those calculations of WAR aren't accurate
  25. It's essentially different methods by which to calculate WAR. Fangraphs uses fWAR for their calculation, dWar typically means defensive wins above replacement, oWar means offensive. Here's the wiki article on it, and fangraphs has great breakdowns and descriptions of their advanced stats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wins_Above_Replacement
