    I'm talking about the present not the past. If Ref over a larger sample size proves he's not hitting any better than JBJ, then Cora will have to go to another plan. But hitting better than JBJ is a low bar.

    Dugo's habit of trotting to 1st on grounders sucks. Certain managers in the old days would bench a player for that shite. But this is the new baseball. Devers also does it; it's not a good look, but if Cora doesn't mind, why should I?

    It's too bad that Arroyo can't or is not allowed to play 1st.

    SOX everyday OF: Dugo Duran Ref 1st base s/b platooned between Cordero and Dalbec. This isn't rocket science.

    I wonder if Cora has had an epiphany and now realizes that Ref is a better hitter than JBJ, and that Ref s/b the everyday RF.

    I'm too lazy to look, but I seriously doubt any MLB team playing over .500 has such low production from their 3 & 4 hitters.

    Fortunately? Unlike a couple of the SOX superstars, he normally hits dingers when there are men on base.

    Considering that JD and Bogey have a combined 62 RBI, imho, the SOX are very fortunate to be where they are in the standings.

    Exactly, but as you and I both know that will never happen. Another elephant in the MLB room is the sparsity of African Americans who are interested in MLB.

    What's really a shame is that with all the terrible teams already in MLB, the powers that be are still talking about expansion. If it's a choice between money or quality, money wins every time.

    If the SOX are gonna keep JBJ, he should only be used as a defensive replacement in later innings. If Cora hasn't figured out that JBJ can't hit at this point, then Cora's not the genius I thought he was.

    That figures. The Oakland Awfuls are only in the league to fill up the schedule.

    JBJ may be one of a very few outfielders who has hung around so long because of his glove. It happens more often with SS's, 2nd basemen, and catchers, but not so much with OF's.
