  1. The Rays getting crushed in their home circus tent 20-1 in the 9th. That'll leave a mark on their team ERA. Rays=shite fan base, shite ballpark, shite state.
  2. Based on at least 40 innings pitched so far this season, Kluber has the 5th highest ERA (6.26) in MLB. Pivetta has the 7th highest (6.17).
  3. Dugo Masa Turner Devers Duran Kike Casas Valdez McGuire
  4. Sale, Paxton and Bello are a pretty damn good 1-2-3. Houck had an excellent start last night, but let's see how he fares on his next start. Whitlock is still an unknown quantity. But, imho, those 5 give the SOX the best potential for a 5 man staff. If Kluber was just good enough to be a #5, that would free up either Whit or Houck to join the BP, but I just don't see that happening.
  5. Whatever, Max. You have your view and I have mine. We both like the SOX, so, at least, we agree on that.
  6. That being said, I still want Wong catching most games, mainly because he's got a much better arm than McGuire.
  7. A catcher provides two services to the pitcher; calling the pitch, which the pitcher can shake off if he's not happy with it and providing a target. It's not really that complicated.
  8. On the plus side, the SOX have yet to play the dregs in MLB, of which there are many.
  9. I agree that Wong is the better defensive catcher, but it's not fair to blame McGuire for Kluber's failures.
  10. I thought Martin was the set up reliever. Oh, well, I'm just 2nd guessing.
  11. The SOX offensively appear to have delayed jet lag.
  12. Like I posted before; even V-tek couldn't make Kluber effective. Kluber can only be effective when he has near perfect control, which is hard to accomplish consistently.
  13. After getting out of trouble in the 2nd by striking out Trout, Houck was dominant the next 4. Excellent job!
  14. Yogi was Steven Wright(comedian) before there was a Steven Wright.
  15. It happens to the best of them. Fail 7 out of 10 times in MLB and you're a multi-millionaire. Not many professions are so kind.
  16. So you're blaming McGuire for Kluber's performance, even though he caught some other SOX pitchers for 6 innings and they gave up only one run?
  17. Tough decision for Cora when Whitlock returns. He can't put Kluber in the BP, unless it's strictly for clean-up duty. I'm guessing if Kluber gets Klubbed in his next start, he might be either put on the IL or DFA'd.
  18. I looked up "put the ball in play" and there was a picture of Masa.
  19. Looks like Houck is demonstrating to Cora that he doesn't want to return to the BP.
  20. I was actually referring to his season, so far.
  21. Good point. Going from life or death to win or loss is a big difference.
  22. You'd think at this point the SOX batters might be looking for a change-up. I guess not.
  23. Right now I believe Bello has the best change-up on the SOX staff.
