  1. Somewhere between old Sox sitting and watching pitches until strike two and new Sox swinging at every pitch is probably a happy medium where batters swing early only at good pitches....high fastball low and away change. Hard to watch right now. That was at Nunez’ eyes.
  2. Devers all sorts of f’d up on both sides of the ball.
  3. Nice shutdown inning Eddy.
  4. Manaea gave everyone the blueprint. High fastballs and low changeups.
  5. Well that was disappointing
  6. This. I really felt that whole scenario was the 'beginning of the end' so to speak, even though it was early in the season. Like Remy, I hate the rule, but going in spikes up was unnecessary. Then puffing out your chest and acting like a punk made me wish Holt would have gone all Rougned Odor on him - you came in spikes up jackass, of course the guy covering second is going to bust on you a little bit. Glad he got plunked. Sox Yanks is so much fun.
  7. Ya, even the Yankees announcers (who I quite like for the record) were saying it was a dirty play (spikes up), and it will get dealt with on the field.
  8. This. I can't watch Kelly and not think of Billy Koch, former closer for the Jays (and Oak and CWS IIRC)...a hundred miles an hour at a time 100 mph was more rare than it is today, but with NO movement on his FB. In at a hundred, out at 120... It's hard to have any faith in Kelly, I agree.
  9. So true. As we were watching Kelly go BB, base hit with two out in the ninth, I said to my wife Kelly better close it out or things are gonna get a little heated for Cora a mere 4 games into his managerial career . On a somewhat related note, since I was flipping to the Jays/Yankees game yesterday I was watching with morbid fascination as Boone called for the intentional walk to RHB Donaldson to load 'em up for switch hitting slugger Smoak with 2 out in the 8th...on the heels of a loss the day before...and of course, Smoak takes Robertson deep for the slam and another Yankee loss. I don't care enough to check any boards/media coverage with respect to the Yankees but I gotta think there is likely some questioning of Boone already after his opening series as manager. As an aside, gotta think both rookie managers are going to have some ups and downs this year in two of the most scrutinized markets with some of the highest expectations in MLB. Personally, I like Cora a lot more, based on pedigree and the fact he played in Boston. Gonna be a fun ride! Now, if they can just find a way to NOT leave 11 men on base and hit a little better than .200 with RISP, Cora will look a lot better as a manager as well, and maybe the 9th inning won't be quite so stressful.
  10. This. Planning and a good DVR system is key! haha. Red Sox front and centre. Bruins/Flyers on DVR, Blue Jays/Yankees on channel flip, Cub/Marlins video game summary on the app. Weather here brutal (like, January brutal here in Western Canada on Easter weekend and all this week) and kids all away so lots of time in my basement at my bar (2 delicious draft beers on tap from local micros). Next weekend gets a little trickier with the Masters, but again good planning and a good DVR system will be key!
  11. Never a doubt . (exhales) Sox win. 3-1 in the first series on the road, I'll take it. See ya tomorrow!
  12. Yup. Go get 'em Joe! (crosses fingers)
  13. And it gets no less stressful...your April Fool's closer, Joe Kelly warming...
  14. Yes, it really does. Beauty curve for the K, whew. Been a stressful game to watch with all the LOB, and the names in our 'pen that don't include Kimbrel today. Jays beat the Yanks.
  15. and the requisite 8th inning walk given up by Sox pitching...
  16. Poyner in the 8th. Well, for one batter anyway...Matt Barnes up next...
  17. Whew. Through the inning. 3 solidly hit balls, but 3 outs...way to go Walden, welcome to the show. Now sit down.
  18. Well, there's a break from TB's coach...two outs I think you gotta send him there, although on the reply Betts had the ball to Holt by the time Duffy was rounding third. Still think ya send him. EDIT - upon further review he was already around third and putting on the brakes before Holt had the ball. Maybe a gift from TB's 3rd base coach.
  19. Well...you wouldn't want JD batting with one out and the bases loaded, would you?!? Thought for a second we still had Butter coaching third. SEND 'EM! 10 men left on base, 2 for 10 RISP today. On the bright side, pitching has been very good again today. C'mon boys let's go!
  20. Greetings all, from Calgary Canada. Red Sox fan as long as I can remember being able to see some of the Sox games on TV up here in the early 80's, if I recall correctly on WSBK Boston - we didn't have cable until then as we moved alot and were living in small towns prior to that ;-). Grew up playing baseball and/or fast-pitch softball (depending on what leagues existed in the towns we were in/near) as well as hockey (of course) and many other sports (basketball, volleyball, track, etc...back when kids had 'seasons' in their various sports, now it seems they are all year round and kids have to choose early...a bit sad IMHO). My grandfather loved baseball (a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and later the Toronto Blue Jays when they joined) so my dad and his brother grew up playing competitive baseball (they are in the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, part of a little league team that won nationals in back to back years - I believe it was - when they were kids). I certainly got the love and passion for baseball from my dad and my grandfather, and with the advent of technology and the MLB package I've been able to watch as many Red Sox games as my busy schedule has allowed over the past decade or two. More recently I took early retirement in December, turned 50 in Feb, and am now looking forward to Opening Day 2018 with a little more time on my hands to watch the Sox!! In fact, in 10 minutes I will be firing up the AppleTV to watch a little BOS @ PIT Spring Training baseball...So, Go Sox! All the best to RSN, g22
